Fredrika, My green 96XJ
 

So Fredika is the first XJ I bought. I got her from Craigslist over the summer. Fell in love with XJs pretty much right away. I am not sure how long I will be driving this one as I have another one in better shape I am trying to get running well enough to pass emissions. Until the red one (Roxanne) is ready I will be trying to keep ol' Fredrika on the road.

June 5th I put a new battery in since the PO had the WRONG battery in it when I bought it. It started the Jeep just fine, but it was too tall and the positive was on the wrong side so the battery was tilted to the hood would close and cables would reach. I also replaced the downstream O2 sensor that day too.

June 15th I gave her new plugs and a clean air filter and I replace rear lift gate shocks since the rear hatch wouldn't stay up on its own.

She still needs a lot of work but I am gonna do what I can when I can. I know she needs some body work done on the underside, could probably use new rear shocks and brakes all around and probably a new valve cover gasket. She leaks a lot of oil from pretty much any seal she has, but hopefully I have slowed the leak on the valve cover. I tightened the bolts just a bit where it's leaking worst for now.

It also would seem that she now has an overactive bladder (also known as a radiator leak) I am may just try some stop leak for now.

I recently discovered with the help of my boyfriend, that I am missing the bolt that holds the transfer case in place. Fun fun. The whole transfer case is moving side to side when I drive. I am hoping I will have time to get this fixed one way or another this weekend.

Missing bolt from the transfer case was successfully removed from black jeep and installed in Fredricka. Test drive time.

Last night she got her new muffler and exhaust installed.

I am thinking about ordering new floor pans for it to get that fixed too

I love the "keep it on the road" builds haha. Sadly I've had over $1000 in work done to mine in the past year, just regular stuff (oil, belts, power steering, etc.) How many miles are on your Jeep? Wish I had 2 XJ's, one for winter/mud, and one to keep nice!

This one has 288500 miles on it and its a bucket of rust. It pretty much needs all new floor pans.
New exhaust manifold
Probably new fuel and brake lines
New rotors
Calipers probably couldn't hurt
The coolant lines leak
The ac doesn't work
The antenna wire is broken somewhere inside
Fuel filter is rusting out (when I tried I couldn't get the bolt hold filter strap off)

I have a total of 3 XJs. All 96. One is my daily driver/ trail rig, this is my back up vehicle for when the other is down not being worked on when I can get this one going and the third is a parts jeep.

I really don't think I can afford to keep 2 on the road. Seems like all I am doing is playing catch up on both.

Oh yeah this one needs new shocks and looks like the suspension bushings are worn too. Probably needs motor mounts too. The list continues.

She did get new brake pads last night but it took forever to get the driver side wheel off. Rust didn't want to let it go. And then the caliper bolts were stuck and it took forever to free them up. Was like almost a 3 hour brake job
