First Vehicle I Have Ever Owned (Budget 2000 Cherokee)
This is the first vehicle I have actually owned! Worked a summer at a hardware store and odd jobs for two years to afford it, and my parents pitched in a small portion to.
It started out like this, last silver one on the left. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...silver-one.jpg Bought it from a teacher with low mileage around 95,000, automatic transmission, factory trailer hitch, yakima roof bars, some factory gas tank and undercarriage protection. Basicly a nice bare bones Cheroekee with a few extras. Only problem was, the suspension was iffy and it was really low. Good thing my friends E-bay and Craigslist found me some decent tires and a cheap lift. After installing it, I had to add a bumper so I found one on Craigslist for 70 bucks, it was rusted to hell but I fixed it up as nicely as I could and this is what it looked like. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...-1836258-n.jpg It was good but after pulling on something with the Craigslist bumper and it bended I decided to get rid of it, I sold it back for around the same price as I bought it to! https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...xj/23652-a.jpg This is the difference between mine and my family's stock Cherokee, I decided on buying a Rock Hard 4X4 bumper with D-Rings. Also found some black Cherokee headlamp brackets and put those in to mix things up a bit. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...xj/23659-a.jpg My newest addition is a CB radio and a Hi-Lift Jack. Although its a pain with all the people running ridiculous linear amplifiers but fun nonetheless. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...xj/23653-a.jpg Another cheapo thing I did was find two lights at Goodwill for .25 cents apiece, I waterproofed them and relocated my fog lights, to the front because the new bumper had no space underneath for them. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...2s-xj/23649-a/ I also found out that it has a C8.25 rear axle which is awesome, considering I don't want to spend money on upgrading that. Although I may put some cheap armor on it in the future. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...cn3261rear.jpg I so far haven't gone officially "off roading" with a group of people. But like messing around on my grandparents farm and backwoods out in the country. Also it handled perfectly digging their farm out with around 2-4 feet of snow this winter. I am looking to go off roading so if anyones around MD/DC/NVA hit me up! Considering I am on a very quaint high school budget this turned out pretty nice. Also it beats everyone else in high school driving their mums volvo/hyundai/mini-van around. What should I do next? Comments, suggestions? |

Nice looking jeep bud,
maybe get a front and rear diff cover to protect that? its worth it I think. Also some skids plates for under your rig could do you good. Maybe even a locker but it depends on what you plan on doing with it... looks great keep it up. |

I was thinking something like this?http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...y_Code=xj_skid Or this, http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...y_Code=xj_skid But I don't know which one to make or buy? Also a little update, I'm going to be making some diamond plate door steps today. If I can find the diamond plate for cheap at least. |
Nice! I love my '00 XJ!

Thought I should add this. My grandfather has restored a number of model T's and other older classic cars. I work with him alot on his 1910 Model T that just turned 100 years old last month. He lets me use his garage to!
