Alright. So this is my '95 Cherokee Country given to me by my Dad. Supposed to be just a car but i have different ideas. Its got roughly 140,000 on it and it runs great. I wanna lift it like 4.5 inches and put 33's on it. I wanna know what kind of brands i should consider if i wanna spend less than 1k. I've got a couple of questions like what are Sway Bar Quick Disconnects? And with this size lift will it still be ok asa daily driver. Thanx

first of all i wanna say nice rig dude, it looks very solid....

second of all you are gonna open up a whole can of worms with a 4.5" lift and 33's, i would start off a little slower until you get your feet under you. when you go over 3.5" lift you will need an SYE/drivehafts, brakelines, adjustable trackbar, quick discos, and you will want to re-gear your axles for 33's....i would do a lot of research before jumping into that kind of a project....and it will cost you well over $1k

i would suggest starting off with a Rough Country Series II 3" kit with full leaf packs, this will easily clear 31's and will allow you to use stock gearing in your diffs and if you have driveline vibrations grab an Iron Rock Offroad 1" t-case drop kit, then i would look into recovery gear and armor (because you will want them when you move up to 33's anyways), a rear hitch (class 3) is great then some IRO front tow hooks, then look into engine/tranny, t-case, and gas tank skids and rock sliders (look into skid row, JCR, tomken, warn etc.)

just my $.02 but it would be a great start for about $1k that would get you going until you go bigger.

oh and sway bar quick disconnects allow you to un-hook your front sway bar easily for more flex when offroad, then hook them back up for better on road handling

Is it gonna be for street only or will you be taking it off roading much?
I would also recommend staying at about 3" - 3.5" of RC lift tell you have more cash to spend! You can always add a 2" puck & shackle lift to your 3" lift! Thats how I roll on 31x11.5 swampers! you can make the t-case drop for way cheap, but there is alot that goes into lifting these XJ's over 3.5"s that you don't get in most lift kits!

Also wanna say VERY clean rig!!! Does it have the 4.0L? 4x4? auto?

haha thats good advice guys thx. the 3-3.5 sounds good. and yeah builtnotbought its got 4.0L Auto with the 4x4, and if i add that extra 2 inches will it roll too much haha im 17 and my moms freakin out about the roll. its gonna be more onroad but im gonna try and get off said road at least once a weekend. I gotta say thnx again cuz this i the first time ive reall joined a forum and im lovingthe response and everything :icon_lol:

if you want to avoid roll, then low center of gravity is your best friend.... a 3"lift will clear 31x10.5's and you wont notice any more roll especially if you get a set of rims with like 4" backspacing......let your mom get used to that while you save up your money to go bigger, by then you can justify it to her that its only going up 2" and the wider tires (33x12.5) will make it more stable

- This is a good lift to start out with. It's a complete lift, wheel, and tire package for $1,065. 3" lift, 31" Dick Cepek Fun Countrys (great tires btw), and 15x8 black wheels. For another $160 you can upgrade to full leaf packs in the rear which would be great if you have the extra cash. Check it out.

This was the first forum I ever joined as well, & its the main reason I've kept building my rig! I think I have A.D.D., cause I can never stay interested in a project more than a month or two! lol But this site has sooo many great upgrades, & knowledgeable/friendly people I wouldn't go anywhere else!

You might as well just go with a 4.5" kit and 33's now, because once you get it offroad you'll always want to gp bigger and better. Ask me how I know. Originally mine was supposed to be a DD and occasional wheeler, but that only lasted a year. Build it right the first time around to save yourself lot of time and money.

yeah i agree with 94xjstud, i got my jeep with a 4.5" lift with 31s as my daily driver and after the first time i went offroad i loved it, and within 2 months i added the 2 inch shackle lift and 33s, and now i want to lift it to 6.5"+

X2 on beware of the adiction i love my jeep and its got 3.5inch with 31 wranglers on it its a good start once you get footing then move up i cant lie i moving up soon it a big jump 5.5 lift kit from rubi it comes with all the goodys except sye and shocks $1500 for the kit but the only rewson is cuz mynextdoor nabor has jeep trails and 1 of my frean just got a 8inch lift on his ... needless to say idont park near him anyway yea good luck on build and if you want to do it cheap try blocks and spacers and yu will have a good amount of money left to play with jeep afterwords

haha so much info!!! 3.5 sounds good cuz i dont wanna go too high. My friends get pulled over all thew time in my town cuz their rigs are too big.

Do not lift it 3"s, unless you are buying the control arms and trackbar and brakelines seperate.
Im at 5"s with no t-case drop, or sye and no vibes.
Lifting 3"s is the most pointless and costly mistake everyone makes. The 4.5" kit will not only ride better, it will look better and perform much better offroad. And people rarely re-gear with 33s. Dont listen to the guy who made the first post and has 3 jeeps, none on bigger than 31s..
