Default Oil Type Waste In AirBox

Hello all,
N00b to the forum. Stoked to finally have a Jeep! 1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 4WD to be exact. Anyway, while tuning up this Jeep I picked up, I noticed a ton of oil type waste in the airbox and the filter is covered in oil. What are some steps I can take to track down this cause and possibly resolve it? I look forward to being a member finally! Thanks!

start with checking your breathers on the valve cover.. and verifying that they are clear of any blockages in the elbows and the hoses..

you engine requires clear unrestricted flow of air in the breathers
