NEW ( to me ) 1995 JEEP CHEROKEE SE 4WD
So far...
New alternator and belt.
New tires (Definity Dakota A/T2 31x10.50R15C) they were on sale at pep boys buy 3 get 1... couldn't beat it.
New exhaust manifold thanks to the great guide by 1991Jeep_Man and a Haynes manual
Just pulled up carpet and then I cried for a while. ( pics coming )
Was going to buy all new floor pans and try to have them welded in but, really can't justify the cost. Think i am just going to go old school with some pop rivets for now.
Any tips, tricks, ideas, suggestions are welcome

Are you going to build it and wheel it?
If so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Otherwise, Naval Jelly, Phosphoric acid, is available in most paint sections at the hard wear store. Wire brush the loose stuff, follow the directions on the naval jelly can, dry, and paint.
I did this on the floor board of my '88. lasted 8 years! Of course the body was beat to death by then from rocks and trees!

I'm thinking about trying some steel patches here and there with rivets until i can learn to weld. $100 a floorpan is too much for me to mess up lol.
Always loved the XJ's and really hate to see another one rot away on the easy coast here.
Plus when the zombies come...

patches
Finally patched up the holes in my floor. Went with some 16g steel patches held in with some pop rivets and sealed with sika universal. Not the ideal fix but my pockets are happy. ( maybe one day I will learn to weld )
I think there were about 8 patches in all. None were too big and I overlapped the patches an inch or so on all sides. This is one of the larger ones...
Went ahead with some bed liner after that...
Now just waiting on the last parts of my exhaust tonight...
