Face/Off
The saga began 3 mnths ago when I decided to "turn in" a $27,000 "truck" that was nothing more than a sedan with a pickup bed attached to it. The search began for a daily driver..........A friend of a friend just returned from an auction with a "red" 91 Four door Cherokee Laredo. Never being a Jeep "fan", I looked it over, drove it, everything seemed to be in good order for a 19 yr old vehicle. The interior was cherry, and I saw a front hitch that was used for the Winnebago that hauled it around. The ODO read 127K. I hemmed and hawed, but for 1500, I just did it, so I had a car to drive around in.
The suspension was SHOT........it was a long drive home. I went to a junkyard and found a Cherokee with a 2 inch lift and raped it. I needed new tires, so I got some 29 X 9.50's and some black Pacer "Soft 8's"
Here is the progress------->
Pic 1 - When I got it home
Pic 2 - New Rims and Tires (and what I thought was a 2" lift)
Pic 3 - Another 1.75" lift
Pic 4 - I realized how stupid and small the tires were and found a st of 31X10.5's on Craigslist for the right price.
Pic 5- Close up of the Nexxen M/T's
As of right now, the Exxon Valdez (as I have appropriately named it) sits in a buddy's paint booth. Little bit of rust to fix, all chrome to be replaced or painted black. All emblems will be removed. I found some cool badges on Ebay that I'll be replacing the old badges with.
So........I've made it this far, with the help of a good friend and even better Jeepster. I am now a Jeep fan(atic). Knock on wood, but when she gives up the ghost....I'm going right out and buying another!!
One quart of oil a week, instead of a $600 car payment plus a $200 insurance bill............Yeah....I like Old Jeeps!!!

Question....
I searched CF, with not much luck, so I am SURE someone has an answer...
I've noticed that on most older Cherokees, especially mine..that the outer window seals tend to rot and crack, leaving me with ALOT of wind noise inside the cab.
Can anyone tell me where I can find a set of replacement seals?? I've tried JY's but they all seem to be in worse shape than mine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
My next step is to duct tape the rear windows.......
Oh, and not to worry...more pics should be coming soon. My paint man was pretty suprised at the lack of rust after he sanded off three MAACO paint jobs......

The color
I hemmed and hawed and decided on all black.........won't be much of a trail rig, so I figured black was the color for me. I was going to Herculiner the bottom half and then paint it black on the top half....but, I made a spontaneous decision and went with all black.
Not too sure how it's going to look, but I know that it will look better than three tone tomato red.
The PO had a few $99 paint jobs done, apparently at different times in different places.
I will have pics tomorrow.....I'm meeting the paint guy to take some progress pics, then Friday or Saturday, I'll have pics of the completed job.
