I have a 2016 Cherokee Sport 2.4 L with 34.700 miles. The car was with a dead battery for two months since I was not at home.
I have installed a new battery and I went to pass the inspection required in Ma. I didn’t passed it since the car has the O2, the O2 heater, the cat and the evap. Not ready. Even though I drove around 550 miles the ECU still the same. I have tried to do what it is recommended in the highway but it is difficult and dangerous. Any help or what else can be done?

I'm usually not one to make a big deal of this, but you have posted in the wrong forum section. Also, you have a KL Cherokee (14-present) not an XJ Cherokee (84-01).

Not sure if you have ever owned a new vehicle before, but they come with a factory warranty. The Jeep would have a 3yr/36k bumper to bumper and either a 5yr/60k or 100k power train warranty. Being a 2016 and its 2019 unless your in service date was back in 2015 or in Jan, Feb, or early March 2016 you should still be covered under warranty.

If I were you, I would take it to the dealership you bought it from and see if they can help you out.

So wrong section but here’s a few things:

1. EVAP typically only tests between quarter of a tank and three quarters of a tank. So if you keep your gas tank full at all times it will never have time to test.

2. It can take up to 50 full warm up cycles for the systems to fully test.

If you didn’t wait til the last second, then I’d recommend driving it as much as possible giving it a few lengthy trips mixing city and highway driving. Drive it on the highway during light traffic and rush hour. It doesn’t require the drive cycle to be completed. It’s written into the programming to test these systems quicker during EPA Certification.

Drive it normal for the next week or so and retest.
