easy rear end swap
So I've decided that the best thing to do to my dana 35 is to get rid of it and put in a real diff. I was woundering if there is any diff that will bolt up with no welding and no need to change gears or internals. Im looking to do a strate swap and not change a bunch of parts so what is the best way to go.

d44,good luck finding one an c8.25......all u need is new ubolts....itll only take a fiew hours

8.8 is your second best bet.
Wheel spacers and you are back to correct width. |
If your looking for a cheap swap. Get a rear end out of a 91-98 explorer. They will bolt right in and they are limited slip w/ 4.10 gears from factory. Dont forget that if you change gears in the rear though, you need to change in the front as well if your gona be in 4 wheel drive. My buddy did his like this and he has way better traction in the rear then my stock Chrysler 8.8

I found a 8.25 but it has no breaks on it. will that work with my breaks or do I need to find breaks for it as well.

Ok, lets get this straight. The 8.8 is NOT a simple swap. You have to do quite a bit of welding to get it to work. I should know, I just did one :D
The late model 8.25 is your best bet for ease. |
y would u have to weld a chr 8.25, there should be no need to weld, it comes stock in cherokees

thank you all for the help and I think I know what to do now.

Yeah I would def. recommend either finding a D44 out of an XJ or find a 97+ 8.25 out of a XJ, both of which will be better than the D35 and will be completely bolt in.
