Driver to Beater to Driver
1992 Cherokee 4.0/AW4/NP231
I bought it in 2006, Rusty's 4.5" and 32" BFG's. Stock axles, just a driver and a light wheeler.
Put a lot of miles on it, drove it everywhere. Did a little wheeling, nothing crazy.
Wasn't much of a picture person, sorry. This is all somewhere around a 200k mile vehicle. I think I drove it for 2 years like this.

Did a HP44/9IN swap, Lockright up front and a mini spoll for the rear. 33-15.50's for the trail.
And some 235/75's on Tracker wheels for the street.
Did some wheelin'
Some more wheelin'
You get the idea...

Starting to hate D44 ball joints....
Cut the roof... The rear window area was so smashed up I could'nt get new windows in it.
Had a scrap D60 rear, so I cut the tube up to make control arms. Used 1.5" square tube and 60 tube for the bushing ends. Stick welded them together. Should be bullet proof. Still running short arms.

The "ButtSecks" trail at my house. Its tight going in and hurts...
Broke a few things that day...
The day after it broke, it snowed. So the Jeep stayed in my woods for the whole winter. The spring, the following summer too. It was down there for almost a solid year. Broken and in the position you see. I built my YJ on 60s and 39.5s while the XJ was broken. We where actually contemplating scrapping it. I went down to pull it out and figure out what I was doing with my poor battered and broken XJ. I turned the key and it fired right up, so there was a glimmer of hope.

Am I getting scrapped? Parted?
I bought USA Alloy inners and outers and joints for my HP44. A new steering knuckle, ball joints, wheel bearings etc...
Thanks to a bunch of zip ties to hold the front end together and tried some ag tires.

And here you go, now its my winter beater. Been driving the XJ to work when the roads are bad. I only drive 4 miles to work, my driveway is 1/2 mile so the wife drives my Silverado on bad days.
