Smile Does anyone know how to Turn stock ac into air compressor

I never use my ac in my jeep an id like to be able to use it so that it not wasted space or just cause pointless weight and itd be very nice to have a compressor with me at all times that doesnt take up alot of room in the back of the jeep.. But my question is, is it requited to have a air tank as well or can I just run air from the ac pump threw a air hose to pump up tires ect...? Thank you

Thank you. That helps aloot. But I have the question do I have to have a air tank? Can I just run air right off the compressor? Im gonna rarely use it as I only fill when my tires are low and I only 4*4 in the snow so theres no reason to air my tires down. Thank you

It will put out the psi it wants to, you won't want to just run that psi. Use a small tank (like 2 gallons) with a pressure switch to turn it on then you can regulate the pressure coming from the tank. And think, what if your jeep won't start and you need emergency air, that's where a tank is useful..

Ya true. I just don't have the money for the other stuff, tank an switch ect.. But I have about 25 ft of hose plus a few fittings, an I can get the oilers from my father. He has extras for his shops large air tank. I thought about makin a tank out of a propane tank but I still don't have the switch an ect. But if I can get it set up an goin then itd only be waiting to get the tank an switches an parts. Thank you

you need an inline air tool oiler for the inlet and a small filter.

then you need a hose clamp and hose on the outlet run into a tank and have a regulator on the tank.

run a seperate toggle switch to turn the compressor on and off.
done.

I made mine with two old propane grille tanks and it works awesome. I think.I wrote full instructions somewhere in The homebrew jeep mods thread.

I did this in a Ford pickup I had way back when. I found a small air tank at the junk yard off a truck and an air pressure gauge out of the dash of another. I wired the electric clutch on the compressor to a pressure switch off a shop compressor and a toggle switch on a panel I made along with the pressure gauge (even wired the light in the gauge in to the dash lights). When turned it on it would go off and on at the preset pressure. You can scrounge some of the heavy duty plastic air line and fittings off a junk yard truck, it's indestructible. I used to run on the beach a lot and used it to air up the tires.

Probably should have, didn't have the truck long enough. It worked fine while I had it, it was a York stile compressor though.
