Da perfect island family jeep build.
I live on da big island of Hawaii. Best vehicle in the world here is a jeep, In my case, two jeeps. Have a Wrangler YJ, and a cherokee ZJ. Actually made in 92. It is showing some wear and tear, understandable with over 200k on the clock. Living in paradise is great- getting to the coolest beaches and down the sketchiest lava roads to have fun can be fun too. I don't need an uber-lifted monster truck- I need a hefty 4x4 that can get me down the road and to the cool spots I love so much- fishing, with a pole and with a spear and with a net, hunting with knife, dogs and bows and arrows. Just plain camping out. Got three kids, so gotta seat five with cargo room! So what is on the agenda?
Well, gotta fix some broke things first!
1) First and foremost- electrical gremlins, windshield wipers and blinkers don't work, niether does horn. Can't pass safety inspections without them!
2) Remove and replace drivers side rear door- rusty. This is some work, as this jeep does NOT have power windows (yea- I HATE power windows) and means I can only use the door "skin" from the parts jeep.
3) Replace the rear hatch door- maybe the metal around the door too- looks like the worst rot on the whole vehicle
4) Pull all the carpet, mosterliner the floor. Hawaii is no place for carpet- period. Probably will drill some extra drain holes in the floor and get rubber plugs so I can hose out interior when needed.
5) Pull headliner- let wife decorate it. Might install overhead console from other jeep.
6) Install 4" suspension lift already bought from Iron road, and replace any worn suspension parts, put on 31" tall tires.
7) Paint Hawaiian jungle camo using monstaliner UV paint. White on the top, green base, different green "monstera" leaf pattern, with palm accents as well.
8) Steel bumpers front and rear.
9) Roof rack of some sort to carry spare and jack.
Thoughts?
