I'm going to have to correct you. Leaf springs can flex. My leaf springs flex better than my coil springs

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...2000231d98.jpg I take that back to a certain degree. A good leaf setup can flex, but coils will always be that much better. I used to have better rear travel until I made my high clearance lower shock mounts. Hopefully when I make the upper Crossmember I can get all that travel back :)

if I had longer shocks I could flex more and if I had revolver shackles with longer shocks that would be insane.
The guy with the grey 80-series landcruiser in my pictures there has them front and rear. The things an absolute monster. Surprisingly well mannered too, don't seem to unload suddenly like I would have figured. |

A nice flat leaf pack, boomerang shackle, and relocaters will work just fine. OP: Your photography is pretty darn good..always nice seeing a build thread with quality pics! |

How do you like the Detroit in the back? Do you dd this rig? The Detroit sucks horribly on road lol. Mainly because it's a stick shift. Has massive backlash. When I bring the clutch in it hits hard, you can feel it bang on the driveline. An auto would hold slight pressure on it all the time and would probably take up most of the slop and stop it from constantly locking/unlocking. It also is very hard on the tranny synchros, I step on the clutch, locker unlocks, and the synchro drag as I go into the next gear starts to pull the Diff back into lock (if that makes sense). Puts a lot of load on them, so I'm grinding into gears way more often than I'd like. But offroad it's a beast locker, super fast to engage and tough as hell. Overall it's alright, but I'm probably gonna take it out and put in the Detroit mechanical LSD. I'll lose full lock, but as a dd, I'm more than OK with that. I got the ARB to drag me around anyway. |
