Thought it was time for a major tune up, so this past week I put in new:
-Down Pipe
-Muffler
-Tail Pipe
-Passenger Side Motor Mount
-Rear Differential Bearings
-Differential Oil Change
-Steering Damper
-Transmission Cooler Line
-Distributor
-Wire Set
-Spark Plugs
-Oil Filter
-Oil Change
-Trailer Hitch
Also tore apart the steering column as it was extremely loose - the infamous hex bolts were loose and I added locktite and fixed that up.
Now trying to find a problem in the rear axle, and we are starting to think there is something going on with the spider gears. After it heats up from driving for a bit, any time I make left hand turns while accelerating (such as at a four-way turn) the rear driver side starts hanging up and making crunching noises. We checked the wheel bearings, and thought putting new differential bearings in and changing the oil would fix it as one of them was pretty messed up, but that didn't do anything.
Thank you!
Thank you - it was time consuming, but I like how it turned out.
Thanks - it is my version of a camo called Kryptek.
I haven't seen that before, but I really like his camo also. I am curious as to how it was done.
I wanted to do something that little cubby, and that seemed to be suitable lol.

So, I put down the base camouflage and let it dry for 24 hours. Then since I have a vinyl cutter and can make decals, I made up a bunch of pieces of the pattern I wanted and turned them into vinyl stencils (I used 7 different patterns and just mixed them up). It took a while to get them to fit in a way that looked good, and to fill in the gaps between the main stencils. Then I used the same colors for the base camouflage and painted over the stencils (if it was tan underneath the stencil, I would put something darker over top and overlap the colors, and vice versa).
Here is a picture with the hatch done (it was my test area), but you can see the stencils on the side before they were painted.

Nice! I was thinking of doing this to my XJ. I've done a few items like control arms and such using this tutorial and it turned out just like the video. Point3 sells Kryptek and Multicam stencils. http://point3airsoft.com/services/cu...aint-stencils/

Quick little addition since my clear coat has been sticky since painting.
I had some desert digital camo webbing I was going to use for a project and just never figured out exactly what I wanted to do with it, so I used it for a wrap. I then used upholstery tacks to give it a different look (and to make sure the wraps stay in place).
It isn't difficult to do, just time consuming.
****, I need to start selling stencils like that! At their prices, it would probably cost like $500 for just the stencils to cover my jeep haha.
One of my friends wants to make stencils to paint his gun Multicam and I told him I would help him - so that will be helpful.

Nice. You should do a grenade shifter handle. I'm getting the Point3 Kryptek and Multicam stencils then taking them to a shop that makes magnetic signs and they can use the stencils as a basis for some magnetic stencils. Re-usable stencils.

That is a good idea - I never even considered that! haha

One of my friends has the Rock *** nade handle on his AW4. He said it included the adapter to make it fit. But there is no push button, which he says is better for offroad driving any way. They have several styles.

Got the magnet idea from Truck Stencils website.
There was a video of an 89 XJ that had the dash painted Kryptek camo but the owner made the video private and now I can't find it. He used the magnets and it listed a website that sold them. LOL

A few simple things done today.
Made rotating supports and catch plates for the supports (hard to see) to hold my storage doors open so they are easier to use.
Bolted in a little safe under one of the storage doors. Will most likely use to keep extra ammo and mags or something.
I might have to consider those.
I wanted to paint my dash, but I don't know where to start without tearing it all apart haha.

I don't think it would be too bad. I painted all of the plastic and door panels (Autozone has vinyl/carpet spray paint haha) aside from the dash in mine and put it back in the same day. The bedliner smell definitely lingers for some time though. Luckily it is Arizona and I drive with the windows down all the time anyway.
