Basically I'm bored. I've been reading this for awhile and never made a build thread, soooo what the hell. So my trusty old Chevy pickups starting to show signs of her age. Sucky thing was all the parts that decided to go bad were expensive on my truck, really expensive. Figured it was time to get something else. I bought this 97 Cherokee that got traded in at work. It was a one owner Jeep owned by a guy that never beat up on it and he maintained it very well. it had a whopping 83k miles on it when I got her. Best part about all this i only paid 1500 bucks for it!

Its not my first Cherokee. After selling the Z71 I had alot of left over moneys to play with the Jeep Jeep.

-First was a Rough Country 6.5" short arm lift with full springs in the back

-33 x 12.50 R15 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's wrapped around some 15 x 10 Pacer D Windows

-Also did some Rock Krawler stainless braided lines, slip yoke eliminator, cut the fenders out and welded Rusty's rock sliders

Rough Country trac bar didn't hold up all that well to my abuse. bent the s*&t out of it one day and kinda made it self adjusting and dog tracking jeeps dont look cool. so i called up Rusty's and got this guy

JCR off road 1 ton steering. A bit of a pain to install but worth it. After aligning it.... again its like a new vehicle.

list of other random stuff that I don't have pictures of.

-Flowmaster 40 series
-BBK 62 mm throttle body
-THOR cowl intake
-New MOPAR wire, cap and rotor and some Champion copper plugs (lawn mower plugs)
-new radiator
-trans cooler
-full size spare with Detours Tailbone bumper (waiting on motivation to install)
-some cheapo day lighters mounted to the bumper with some frankenstiened tabs I welded
-cb radio

Ive had this thing for a little under a year at this point. She's a work in progress. Still have plenty on my to-do list for it.

nice jeep man good choice and a lucky find

djlarroc 11-15-2012 11:10 AM

good score. did you run drop brackets on that much lift? 6.5 on short arms is brutal.

757xj97 11-15-2012 05:43 PM

Oh yeah, I have drop brackets on it... I like how my spines arranged ha

No more stupid tire on the roof. Added a Detours Tailbone. Very stout bumper system. Really bad picture tho.

That's just not fair! Nice XJ though.
The one and only XJ that has ever been traded in where I work, was during that "Cash for Clunkers" BS. I would have gladly given the guy 3k for it but once they were signed over, none of us were allowed to buy them. It was a beautiful 98 4dr 4x4 limited with less than 100k miles on it.

Thanks man! Yeah I remember cash for clunkers... crying *** shame I had to kill so many nice vehicles.

Those KM2's look great on your XJ. Truck looks goooood! How are the KM2's wearing?
