Default Build of my 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited

so after owning a 99 cherokee classic for almost 5 years and experimenting on it in more than a few ways, and after newly sprouted electrical problems i decided it was time to get another cherokee. so i found this one with 144381 miles on it for $4000. i plan on putting quite a few goodies on it.

i already have:
32 11.50 15 hankook dynapro mt's
dynomax cat back exhaust
airraid cold air intake
poweraid throttle body spacer
a sweet stereo system
and a cb radio i just found in the barn lol

i'll be getting:
5.5" rubicon express long arm lift
arb bull bar bumper
and the other equipment required to run that size lift

right now it's sitting stock in my barn just waiting to be driven and modded. the underbelly has been rustop coated since 2004 so it's as clean and solid as i've seen. there's only 2 small spots of rust on the body and i'll be patching those. i'm aiming for a trail ready, show quality ride. i'm a frequent off roader that wants to drive an awesome looking ride. the previous owner was big into cb/ham radios so its all wired and ready for the cb i found in the barn, though i may use some of the wiring to power my amp.

Well after looking over finances I went for the rough country 6.5" long arm kit and a bunch of other stuff from them. I talked to jason and he got me a great deal on all that stuff. Talked to a guy from Tom Woods about a driveshaft and I'll be ordering that after the lift is in and I know what I'll need. Can't wait to start tearing into things and get started!!

Nice looking Jeep, very clean. I have a 01 as well, so I am interested in seeing what you do with yours. Might give me some ideas

Well all my parts from Rough Country came in yesterday except the rear leaf springs, gotta call about them today. Other than that the kit looks pretty sweet and I'll start on it tonight and have some pics up soon!

Went back to do some work tonight got the winch put on the bumper and started working on the back passenger side. The first bolt on the leaf spring came out pretty easy so I was really hopeful. An hour later the second was spinning in the sleeve and the third hadn't budged. I'll be making a full grill guard to mount on the bumper, but that's low priority now. The plan is to lift the back, pull apart the t case to get measurements for Tom Woods CV shaft and SYE. Then while I'm waiting on that, mount the bumper. After that's done I'll finish the driveshaft stuff and lift the front end to finish. I'll also be redoing the exhaust I'm looking at some Banks headers cause they're the only ones I can find for an 01, a spintech 9000 muffler and the 2.5" pipe I have already. I've also already got an Airraid cold air intake that'll be moved over from my other jeep.

Finished removing rear leaf plates and removed front bumper. Picked up some dummy grenades to make into shifters. Already have the pin acting as a pivot point for the spoon. I'll try tonight of tomorrow to get the t handle off to try and figure out how to make the grenade work.

Spent most of the day out in the barn freezing my *** off but got alot of stuff done. Got the rear axle detached so the only thing on it is the parking brake cable. After much effort the leaf springs came out. Had to use a cutting wheel, sawzall, and a torch to get the bolts out. Got the grenade shifter to work although it's still gonna need some refinement to work well. Have one shock removed and replaced but didn't get to the other one yet. It'll be a few days til I can get back out there On Saturday I removed the front bumper and took out the rear sway bar. I'll upload some pictures later cause my phone won't let me.

Well I haven't posted anything in a while but I've got alot done! The rear end is completely finished, I've got both driveshafts pulled and the transfer case out and the front bumper on. In the process of pulling the main shaft out pf the bell housing though there was a c clip I missed and broke the bell housing. So I gotta get a new one the bumper went on pretty easy minus a broken bolt in the steering box. I'll have a bunch of pics up later!

got tons of work done since my last posts but it's easier for me to upload pics from my phone so i'll do that in a few. but i've got the read end finished and it's just sitting on the stock tires for now. the new brake lines are in and a longer axle breather line that's attached to the brake line. the gas tank is out cause i had to swap it out with the one in my other jeep and i'm putting in the new pump in this jeep. the bumper is fully assembled and on the front end, complete with d rings. i've got 2 flood lights that'll eventually be put on. i ordered a spintech 9000 muffler and that came in the mail the other day, as did the 2.5" mandrel bent tail pipe. i stopped at autozone today and picked up some primer and undercoating and i'll be putting that on soon. pulled the front axle out last night and that came out pretty easy cleaned it all off with a wire wheel tonight and i'll paint that soon. i'm kicking around the idea of getting 2x6 rocker guards put on by a shop after i'm done. well i think that's it for now, more soon!
