Default Chasing an intermittent problem...

... is a pain! Intermittently, the door-lock would not operate. Traced all the wires and checked all the connectors... No fix. Finally, found one pin on the connector to the door-lock relay was slightly pulled-out... Fixed!

So then... I decided I wanted fade-on/fade-off courtesy-lamps. Here's what I installed:

(4-seconds fade-on / After doors are closed, a 6-second hold-on, then a 4-second fade-off)

Here's how it is connected:

The lens:

The sockets:

The bulbs:

These are useful little things... Connect in-line to control lamp/light brightness:

Another useful item... Unlike a traditional bit, this bit does not pull carpet. Then, drill a hole in the door-panel metal-frame to accommodate the socket:

I really love watching you build your Jeeps!
Thanks for all the links too.

What are you using the Arduino buck - boost modules for???

Haha!
You will start to see me rip off some of your excellent ideas on my very own XJ.
I am starting on the interior of Scarlett.

Although not so visible in the below picture... I covered the inside of the open storage compartment with black flex-carpet.

I used the first power step-up/down module for this lamp as I just could not get the wanted wattage with a standard-bulb.

Default Remote power door-lock(s)

The remote key-fob door-lock module was not dependable. Replaced this old-style "line-of-site" with a "radio-frequency" version.

That's what I thought you might be doing.

That's FUNNY! I just did this to my dash, as well as using the EZFLEX inside the glove box, and the inside of my center console. I HATE RATTLES!

I was at this Auto Upholstery supply shop the other day and bought 2 1/2 Yards of a really nice vinyl for some trim in the jeep. Really great mom & pop store in Rialto, CA.
WE just found a nice overhead console today in the JY for my Chero, and we were talking about what a bad idea it was for Jeep to use an IR pickup for the keyless entry. (I will not be doing the keyless entry on Scarlet)

Crist, where are you getting your carpet? How flexible is it?

It is ACC's Essex with backing.

Here's my thoughts about the back... Eighteen hours later... I'm close to being done. Best lesson learned was… Fit the wheel-wells first. It became obvious that since the carpet started flat… Then molded… The widest “fitted” width are the wheel-wells. Once I figured this out… The nip/tuck began! By far I spent the most time fitting around the spare-tire hardware… As it seems the carpet was molded without this in mind.

I don't have any pictures of the front. I first set in the console and cut down the center of the carpet where the console would cover it. The front was much easier. Except... Fitting it under the dash. It took my much-time to figure out that there was a lot of excess carpet towards the firewall. I'm always cautious not to cut before I understand the fit. Lesson learned here was... There was a slight fold across the top of the carpet towards the firewall that became the cut-line.

PS: I had one person tell me that is would be easier/more-flexible without the backing.

Nice to see someone putting one back together, instead of cutting, trimming, gutting and lifting and then taking it out and trashing it !!! I seriously considered keeping my 99 bone stock, but its forest green. Got my eye out for a white one. Regardless, I'm not going to go too crazy on mine. I try to pick suttle upgrades that aren't as noticeable and have at least two advantages. I just don't want to end up with a J.C.Whitney sampler, that no one else will ever want ! My 99 was a one owner! Keep up the meticulous work, hope to see more restos like this. I'm subbing to this one !!!

Default Part # help

Hey Crist during your build thread you mentioned that you found the in grill clear marker lights and the vent wing window handles from vpartsinc. Do you possibly have the part #’s for these? I tried searching their website to no avail.

Thanks!

Also, if by any chance you managed to pick up a spare tailgate emblem (the chrome plate above the license plate) that you didn’t end up using, I am still searching for one.

Grill-lamps:
5600 1531 Gray
5600 3045 Clear

Vent Handles:
8350 4102 Right
8350 4101 Left

License-Place Overlay(s):
5501 3411
* Here's the thing about these Overlays... I have three unused NOS... And although they are all the same part number... They all fit differently. Since they are NOS... I do not want to do the ship and try thing. So for now... I will keep them packed away.

As I said before, I will gather-up all my unused stuff when I (someday - ) am done! Stay tuned!

Also... I have seen all of the above on eBay more recently. Some NOS... Some used.

Good-luck on your continued search!

Thank you. I’ll get cracking on the part numbers. Let me ask you something, perhaps I’m searching the tailgate emblem incorrectly. I can find plenty to fit the FSJ’s, never any to fit the XJ body. Are they one and the same part perhaps?

Part 55013411 is the correct part number for the Overlay.
