Brian's 88 jeep: Roxxanne
So here is goes.. bought this 88 jeep cherokee pioneer aug 7th of 2013, basically started with wanting an offroad vehicle and I had decided one of two ways, either a early 90s ford f150 or a cherokee, both had to be stick and both needed to be a little older as thats what ive been craving ever since i sold my 55 f100 project truck. http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/...f/IMG_0974.jpg
f150s all fell through then i found this jeep for the price i wanted and i drove up with my brother and a trailer to pick it up. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...931cc69406.jpg here it is the day i brought it back, used my daily driver, a ram 2500 cummins diesel, i named it Bertha and I love it so here it goes with the thing y'all care about the jeep, it was in alright condition, I hate the interior color but it is growing on me, the clear coat is pretty much trashed on the hole outside but that is okay i plan on repainting it anyways https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ace8cef58e.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...22b937acbb.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...a2e9c44696.jpg |
the jeep has a 3 inch RE lift on it from what i can figure, i know its an add-a-leaf and spacer lift and i am fairly sure that is all, I havent quite gotten to that area yet I have been fixing stuff as well. it leaked from the rear main and from the power steering pump so the list was as follows..
Rear main seal DONE Power Steering Pump DONE Drums and shoes front pads replace CAD with cable/ single piece (dont know which as of now, i would like advice) air filter fuel filter oil filter oil pan gasket DONE oil change DONE radiator change to open system DONE change motor mounts fix gauge cluster new airbox look at lights, front and rear swapped out the power steering pump, hardest part was getting the old pulley off, in the process i knocked the lower radiator hose enough to make it leak  so i figured while im dealing with all of that to upgrade it. so i ordered a 2001 radiator(i believe but there may have been a miss communication between me and the parts manager) it has the connector for the temp switch for the electric fan though so that is good, then an updated reservoir and all the hoses and a new thermostat. only issue with all of this has been that it seems the PO ran straight water through it for a long time and there is a layer of rust inside the block, i personally dont like that but dont know enough to know if it is a real problem or not? this is basically where I am at, ive been buttoning everything up slowly as time progresses, i pretty much have everything needed to finish off that list but I am young and dumb and slowly making progress. |
Also ordered a set of BrownDog motor mounts, I have only heard good things about these and havent recieved them yet but I do have to say that they are quick and have great service, i ordered them, and within an hour had a confirmation and tracking number! 2-3 days. I have to say that speaks wonders and I am already happy with the company! will let you know more when they come in!

finished some more work on the jeep done, filled the power steering pump up and the radiator and new reservoir, cleaned up my new air box from the JY and then dropped in the new filter. so here is the list as follows..
Rear main seal DONE Power Steering Pump DONE Drums and shoes front pads replace CAD with cable/ single piece (dont know which as of now, i would like advice) air filterDONE fuel filter oil filter oil pan gasket DONE oil change DONE radiator change to open system DONE change motor mounts fix gauge cluster new airbox DONE look at lights, front and rear new steering box once i had everything going and filled and after i shut it off i noticed power steering fluid on the ground so im thinking it is coming from the steering box so im thinking possibly an upgrade? so durango box i believe but i dont know what year i need |
alright guys I am in need of some help, i have an 88 cherokee pioneer, from what I know it has the stock guages in it, the ones that have all guages, but it doesnt work at all, i went to the junkyard and bought an idiot light cluster out of an 87, both are cable driven so it should work right?
this is the original one: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...59d096b006.jpg this is the replacement: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...8553d67418.jpg while i was pulling the old cluster out i accidentally did this: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...d5874e7aae.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...7de4ebea42.jpg so what do I do? please help me out I am lost right now and cannot find any good answers |
I also tried to put my draglink onto my pitman arm today but the darn stud/bolt/post just kept spinning and I couldn't tighten it up, so what do I do?

Not much to update accept that I ran into a few electrical bugs and don't know where to start at and that I got some tires
