BOX OF ROCKS

so i have had this jeep for about 2 years now and have never started a build thread but here it goes.
when i bought the jeep bought it from ceder lake in for some idiots that didn't know a thing about lifts or jeep period, but same goes for me bc when i bought this i thought it would be just all fun. well that is why i am on here. so i bought the jeep with about 110,000 miles with a 6.5 rustys lift (which i was told it was) and some rvt wild trac 32's for 5400. well after the first month of owning it the steering was bad the brakes went and the trans went. thats what got me to here i was searching about the sye kits and what they do and stuff. so after this i lost the bottom of my pocket and said i am gonna make this jeep the right way. so now it has all new moog steering and ball joints new trans with about 20,000 on it, rebuilt tcase with sye custom driveshaft, new custom rustys lca's and uca's,has 4.5 leaf packs with 2.5 inch shackles and RE shocks on the rear, custom snorkel, ares fab front winch bumper prerunner, tuff stuff 12,500 lbs winch, has bedlined interior, almost all gaskets replaced, bearings and some other odds and ends well here is how she was sitting before the nov 4 from a trip to the cliffs and now here is how she sits after the cliffs Attachment 154710 and this is what i have done so far after the cliffs did the alternator swap to the top and cut the fenders but i have a whole list of about 30 things i need to do before next march as the build goes on the list will be updated Attachment 154711 |
ray we need to do that alt swap on my jeep!
|
ordered some parts this morning
solid diff cover for 30 and 8.25 lube locker seals for both inner axle seal for the front and outers will be coming soon |
like the alternator swap how hard was it?
|
liking the alternator, with it up that high mud and dirt should not be a problem. I gotta look into that
|
it is really easy as long as you are good with a grinder i am doing x91j's with him today.
take the fan clutch apart the fourbolts BEFORE TAKING BELT OFF!!!!! then start to loosen the belt and get it out of the way then just take the ac compressor off with the 4 top bolts and your ac lines. i already had my lines off bc i had an OBA system. now take apart the alternator and get it all disconnected and out of the way there is like 10 bolts maybe more. now get both the ac bracket and the alt bracket off the jeep and take it to a vise and place them to together and see what you need to grind to make them fit together. i grinded all the ribs in the middle of the ac bracket down flat and then the bottom and the sides of the alt bracket. then drill 3-4 holes in the bracket for new bolts then grind some more off the bottom of the ac bracket to make sure you can get a socket or wrench around the bolts plus so the bolts sit flat. now start to install it all back together it is easier to install the ac bracket then the fan clutch, and then the alt bracket. i am really not for sure on my belt configuration but the belt i have on it is a 76x6 and its a tight fit but it might be smaller then that i will have to see it took me about 4 hours and you can use your original plugs to your alt bc they are long enough to reach the top |
