Just realized There are a few things I never mentioned in the thread:
Painted all the light housings and speaker guards black
Also awhile ago I found a junkyard a couple of hours away that had a set of factory tow hooks and a second visor I sold to a friend for extremely cheap
Installed the recovery points after I took off the surface rust and repainted them, ended up welding them to the subframe back where the brackets extended back, I'm hoping aftermarket bumpers use the same mounting points cause these brackets are pretty stout
Also here's an update on the roofrack
Base is welded, this was a pic of it laid out, I ended up adding two more cross members

attached my stock transfer case skid I pulled from a junkyard, had to get a little creative on the mounting because my jeep did not have the stock mounting points. I took some plate and welded nuts to it and welded that over the holes to bolt it on. Only draw back is the lip it created that looks like it might get hung up kind of easy, might fix it with some plate

Hey everyone, I know it's been awhile but things have been slow these last couple weeks. I just got a free stock JK bumper
It's the stock basic one but it's free, I have some pretty wild plans for it so we'll see how it turns out, if it goes good I'll make a thread on it but so far it's off to a slow start. Like most of the things I do this project has already had some complications, my stock extended brackets for my tow hooks had the bumper brackets welded on so I need to remove them, which is difficult, after that I need to start gapping the bumper I have so it fits properly then I need to creat the mounting points. I'm going to base my mounts off of this thread by Stormitecture:
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f59/dr...24/?styleid=16
I might cut to square holes in the jk bumper and weld two D-ring tabs to the Square tube if I think they can handle it, I'll also use some plate with a similar thickness to my extended bracket so I know they can handle the recovery. Also thinking about adding a brush bar, then later maybe adding a winch plate to the steel tube that my bumper is mounted too, we'll see what happens, fist thing is first, I have to make my bumper mounts removable.
(Some things I pulled to get them out of the way for now)

After doing some pricing and research I am considering dumping the jk bumper and just either spending a few extra bucks and making a tube bumper or go big and buy something complete for once, not sure which directions I'm gonna go yet, the jk bumper isn't gonna save me as much money as I wanted so that probably won't be the direction I go, until I decide I think I'm gonna refocus on the roofrack and hopefully make some progress this weekend, thanks for the patience!!!

Damn dude. You got some real luck with junk yards. Mine is always a disappointment. Last time I went I got excited because a new 2000 came in and I went the first day it was there and it was a stripper 2wd 2.5 liter. I was pissed. The thing was basically worthless. Another 2000 came in so I'm gonna see if I get any luck. I want some skids. My best jy catch is a ****ing v8 zj tie rod

Bumper is on stand still till I decide what I want to do, waiting to get an angle grinder of my own so I can start working more on the rack, so in the meantime I'm painting the underside of my jeep to keep busy
Her's an artists idea of what it might look like when it's finished:
And last night I started with the steering:
