So yesterday I had time to replace the leaf packs with a Dakota set. Not a bastard pack set. Actual leaf packs off a Dakota.
Supposedly it ll give me a 1" stretch in the wheelbase so let's see how that's like.
Since the leaf packs are so long. I ended up drilling new holes on my shackle relocation brackets. I should have drilled it in better place but oh well.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. Lol. Cause it's reverse wrapped around the bushing so it kinda interfere with the shackles

Let's see how this set last me this time. I'm heading up to Rausch creek next weekend.

Oh wow, I would've thought it would have been the other way around since there's more weight in the back of the enclosed SUV as opposed to the open bed of the dakota. So for the XJ, do you think the Durango or Dakota springs would be the better option?

Last weekend was a good day at Rausch
Got a broken passenger taillight when I banged it against a rock.
The liftgate latch also got stuck. Oh well.
Added a lot more dents on the rockers.
And the highlight of the day. I pulled a ZJ out.
Oh yea. I also hung up my rear diff on a big *** rock
I have more pictures that my wife took on her camera. I ll upload those later but these will do for now.

Overall. I'm satisfied with the Dakota leaf packs. Just need to get two new driveshafts that's slightly longer to accommodate the longer wheelbase.

On other note, I snapped the rear driveshaft on the XJ, luckily it happened when I was turning into my street, so I shifted into 4L and let the jeep creep up the street slowly. I didn't have the tools to unbolt the driveshaft (SYE) so it was slowly whipping the asphalt on the way. Ha.
Once it arrived home, I removed the driveshaft and left it in 4H so I still can drive it around temporarily.
Upon closer inspection. The pinion yoke in rear axle is damaged. I ll have to replace that. I also noticed that the SYE yoke has some play. So it looks like I also need to replace the output bearing on the tailhousing along with seal.
**** like this never ends. Ugh.
So the plan of attack is to get 3.5" rubicon express leaf packs off amazon prime for $200 shipped.
Move the Dakota packs over to the MJ for temporary until I can afford to buy 3" lift packs for it.
That way the axle will be recentered back in the wheel well. (I used the Dakota because it gave me 1" rear stretch). Didn't like how it dropped the rear 1" also and how it handled at Rausch.
That way. The driveshaft won't be overextended anymore.
