Black Pearl XJ Build
14 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, I've been lurking this forum for a bit and I've always wanted to do a build thread but I never got around to it. My Jeep is already mostly built but there's still room for more stuff so I figured I might as well start up a thread for it. Anyways I'll start from the beginning of my build and catch up to what I have up to this point.
December 27, 2013 I purchase my first vehicle in Denver, NC for $1500. This thing was completely bone stock with 251,000 miles on it. Attachment 291437 Fast forward about a year or so (I was in high school and broke) and I've added on some wheels, a light bar, and a roof rack which my grandfather helped me build. This picture was my first time taking it offroad. Attachment 291438 Few months later March-ish 2014 I've added a few more lights and put in my first lift with the help of my dad. Rough Country 3" AAL on 30" tires. Attachment 291439 And about a month after that I found a good deal on Craigslist for some used 33's. Backed it straight out of the garage and couldn't turn AT ALL it rubbed so bad. But hey here's a picture of 3" lift and 33's with no cutting Attachment 291440 And around May 2015 I finally get off the sketchy tires and buy some 32" Goodyear MTR's. Attachment 291442 Few weeks later I begin my 2500 mile trip from NC to my hometown Carson City, NV. The Jeep ran flawless the whole way. Attachment 291443 And I'm back home, few weeks later I fab up a bumper with the help of my grandfather again. (Got a bit excited for one of the few rainstorms we had last summer) Attachment 291444 September 2015 the original 4.0 finally had it at 262,000 miles. Cause of death was a couple rusted out freeze plugs which led to me dumping out all of my coolant thus overheating and blowing a head gasket. Attachment 291445 Around December 2015 after buying a wrecked $500 parts Jeep with only 130,000 miles and swapping engines, I decide to buy a Smittybilt XRC tire carrier. Attachment 291446 March-ish 2016 I buy a winch and take my doors off for the first warm day in months. Also added some 15x8 Cragar V5's. Attachment 291447 May 2016 I finally get rid of that 3" RC lift and put in a 4.5" Zone lift. Still on 32's. Attachment 291448 A week later I buy some brand new 35" Goodyear MTR's. (loved these tires so figured I'd try them again) Attachment 291449 About a week after driving on stock steering it was getting pretty sketchy so I bought and IRO double shear track bar as well as BLee's OTK high clearance kit. Attachment 291450 And this is the most recent picture I have taken a couple weeks ago. Attachment 291451 Anyways hopefully someone got down to this part where I thank you for reading my build. Hoping to add a few more things to it in the future such as a couple more inches of lift and some long arms. But that's what's in store for the future of this build thread. |
Up to date! Look forward to the new updates. Great Jeep!

What backspacing are your wheels? I like the B.Lee's kit but says that rubbing may occur on anything over 3.75bs and I have 4
