Black and Blue - 2000 XJ Sport
I feel like I've made enough progress to start my own thread in here...
Purchased with 88k miles on it, bone stock.
Right away I:
-Tinted the front windows to match the factory tint on the rest (18%)
- Did a little bit of body work on the rockers and doors. Tried the molding-less look but put them back on when some I noticed that some of the clear coat had flaked away underneath them. Painted from the moldings down and bumpers with spray on bed liner
- Replaced the front U-Joints
- General Tune up and ran a 1/3 can of seafoam through the brake booster line and the rest in the gas tank
- Replaced the oil pump and pressure sending unit
- Front pads and rotors
- Replaced the steering stabilizer with an upgraded one from Rough Country
Took it out a few times to see what it could do in stock form:
Pictures with my other baby:

-I then got a set of 15x8 American Racing Baja polished aluminum wheels with 5in BS and a set of 31x10.5x15 General Grabber AT2's on 15x8 US Wheel black Daytonas (I think)
Tires and wheels leaned up against the stockers just long enough to decide I didn't want to do all black:
-This weekend I added a 3" RC coils, AAL, and shocks. Big thanks to GRIMUS99XJ for hooking me up with some really nice Rough Country products.
- I also installed a set of round 6" Hella 500s on the front bumper
During the install, I broke all four rear shock mount bolts and one of the front sway bar links. The shock mounts were repaired by punching out what was left of the bolts and using grade 8 bolts and nuts. The sway bar issue remains to be addressed.
More pictures to come once I get it cleaned up again.

I used Rough Country 3" front coils, RC/Heckthorn shocks, and set of tow package leaf springs with RC AAL (which I plan to replace with a full leaf pack once I have some more money). After about 350 miles, its sitting nice and level right almost exactly at 3".
As it sits, 33's are not a possibility. The 31's slightly rub on the front bumper caps when the wheels are turned and I'm going over any uneven surface. If you get into trimming the fenders and bumper caps, you probably could do 33's.
Wheel backspacing may also be an issue. I went with a 5" BS so that they tires would stay completely in the wheel wells and avoid any trouble with the local law enforcement. Plus, I bought the wheels used on CL so I didn't have much choice

Right after I submitted that reply I remembered a picture I still had on my phone...
This was a few days after I got it. There was a set of 33's lying around so I threw a jack under her and tossed one on to see how she'd look. You can see that, even with it jacked up probably at least 6 inches, that 33 was not going to get along with the fender or bumper cap
