Now onto the paint. I decided after reading pdqgp post about his experience with the new Lake Country wool pad on the Flex, as well as the Mothers CMX I had to try.
https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...psbzwgxv8z.jpg The results are quite great, I couldn't be happier. Left is after/Right is before. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pshahbteic.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psp7khyxgl.jpg Just remember this shot of the hood. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pseodcchxn.jpg Tailgate all finished up. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psnu3m1qvo.jpg All polished. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pszfqq1dhx.jpg Now onto the real treat. I have used OPT products for years, but this revolutionary product has blown my mind. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pswvuyzfgc.jpg Hood was rough, this is 50% coated on the right. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psznwmi8ve.jpg Roof is really rough. Not too glossy, lots of failure in the clear and checking. Before. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psfm7mc5co.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pswzannh2u.jpg Roof after. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pspi3nlhbr.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psm496a8i3.jpg Hood after. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps5bdgv6tz.jpg Back on all fours for the first time since I bought it. I still have yet to drive it. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psahgmjosc.jpg I replaced the bumper caps with aftermarket that fit surprisingly well. I am waiting on the bumper to get coated and done, and then onto the interior. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psdtjpevof.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psupqc2re4.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pshs0dinf9.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psqvetysnd.jpg |
Finished up the painting projects last night. Painted the grille and headlamp bezels, as well as the wiper arms.
Prepping https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...psnuqgouod.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pssxbgwuhr.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psdflv4apr.jpg Laying on some color http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psho9iqe6j.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psyaohmnci.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psotyltwx4.jpg Now onto finishing the paint and ceramic coating. From what it was to what it is now, I am very pleased. Look at the blue. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psqkzezdrj.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psavw9xefx.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psxzyl73n1.jpg All done http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psffnnh93g.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psw0bbmexe.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psr41tqjqa.jpg Grille and wipers installed http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psvjha6yaj.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...psmmt30sxo.jpg Very slick now http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...pswxdqgqbf.jpg https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...psiedks6oy.jpg Time to move onto the interior and then get the bumper all finished up and start driving it. |

I wish you would give my red chili pepper XJ that treatment. Alaska is tough on the paint. |

Found a little more time to plug away at this thing. I am getting excited to get it all back together and start driving it.
First up, replace the sagging headliner. https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...sqigrqfnw.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...smfmpelqn.jpeg This gal is a keeper, she took to this awful job like a champ http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...stterbm7q.jpeg All finished up http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sg9exhvvn.jpeg Since this will be used as a Expedition rig, I decided to add some light to the cargo area. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...smwc4jlf3.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sxtfraazw.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...stexanz2y.jpeg Added my Trail Rated badges as well, I think they are a good OEM touch. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...s2zr5xfup.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sugxwfcby.jpeg And throwing it back to its Heritage, I had the logos that were on it redone. This covers up some of the damage to the clear coat they caused when removing. I may have the door pieces redone, as they are a little bigger than I expected. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...s0vnbwixv.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...swewibxax.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sleqvqlaj.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sjgbogigc.jpeg |
Nice touch on the seal.
That rear light an LED? looks like it fits well. Good job on the headliner! |
As a Tennessean, that sticker warms my heart!
The rig is looking legit too! I really dig the 15" "Moabs" - they look perfect. Not gaudy but not so functional they're boring. How close are you to hitting the road in this thing? |

Couple quick pics, hope to throw it on in the next few days. https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...sqpjoica1.jpeg The finish is really nice. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sn7nh6pgp.jpeg |
Holy cow, that paint really pops! I need to do that to my Mercury. Luckily my xj was garage kept before I got it so the paint is still pretty good. Fantastic job overall on this Jeep. It's neat and tasteful and looks almost like it could have come from the factory that way.

Just about to the finish line. Had a nice day and a couple extra hands and was able to get the bumper and the winch installed. My punch list is getting smaller.
Tie in brackets that I had my fab guy make https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...smhcfu7p3.jpeg Test fit http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...st1hc6p0v.jpeg All done http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...scojxxlrk.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sn0dkzmft.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sqe0lqz0j.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sskptvmk3.jpeg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...syqwsrc2x.jpeg Sisters http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...sjnpdywnj.jpeg |
