another zj

This isn't going to be much of a build since I'm broke, lol
But I will still keep track of it here.
I found a cheap 94 zj laredo. Some minor rust, runs, sort of.it has a really rough idle and runs rough.

First thing I did was get rid of this

Then trying to get it running right.
Pulled the plugs and found these

So, changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor, cleaned throttle body and iac, still runs rough.
May as well do some cosmetic work...
The cladding just wasn't working for me, so it had to go. And I hate the wheels, but I hated them a little less after a quick coat of paint

It looks weird without the factory tints and no cladding lol. How hard was it to take the cladding off? I was thinking of doing the same to mine

Tints?
The cladding is super easy to take off

well factory tinted/smoked windows. My 95 ZJ has all windows tinted except for the fronts and windshield. I think its called privacy glass

Yeah, it definitely needs it

try a can of seafoam in the gas or maybe some type of injector cleaner. maybe that is what is causing the rough idle. how bad was the cap and rotor? That spark plug is insanely fouled.

Unfortunately I found the problem, no compression on cyl 2 and 3

Going to pull the head and see if its the head or just the gasket

ToyComa 03-17-2010 10:56 AM

you would be better off if it is the head gasket or head so long as it isn't the piston rings. Are you getting water in the oil? The pic of the plug was really fussy but it does look like it could be from getting water into the cylinder so I am leaning towards head gasket and maybe a warped head. previous owner might of overheated and warped the head and then the gasket blew.
