Did you ever fix your front bumper? You ripped one of the ends off right?

Truthfully though, I'm looking into rebuilding my leafs to be more flexy and less squeaky. They haven't sagged or anything, but any AAL setup is gonna be stiff and not droop as much as I'd like, so I may get some S10 leafs sometime this winter. I've gotten a good 3 years out of them, and they haven't really shown any signs of wear.
The fatmat took about a week doing a couple hours a night after work, and a full weekend. Not too bad if you have an extra set of hands for all the screws for all the interior panels. It is definitely worth it IMO. I got a 100 square foot roll, and it was plenty. I still have at least 15 left for future use.

Here's the good side:
and the busted side:
The welds just don't seem to have penetrated for the wing parts of the bumper. I guess we should have adjusted the heat on the welder...

Most recent additions came this past summer.
JCR Transfer Case Skid. This thing is BEEF. I used it a LOT on the last trip I went on, too. Kids, learn from my mistake. Get your armor before getting body damage.
Also, I picked up a set of JCR stage 3 rock sliders. I really like the sort of "boatsided" design of the tube, it covers up some of the rock rash.
Here is a very good reason to get sliders and skids early on. My pinch seam, rocker, and part of my floor was caved due to a rock impact. As a result, I only caught 3 of the 5 bolts that holds the sliders on the pinch seam. It's still plenty strong, as it just needs to withstand upward forces. Still though, would have been nice to get a nice clean install on it.
See the rock rash that could have been prevented?
I also put on a Mopar gas tank skid. It came off an 84-96 XJ, but with a quick grind of a couple spot welds and some hammering, it fit over the tank for my '99.
modified for fitment, before paint
Installed. (see more rock rash? Cut-and-fold in my future...)

Posting stuff out of order...Went to Deer Valley last summer, which is south of Lake Tahoe. We ran it from North to South. A great trip. I took most of my body damage here, but it's OK.
This was also the first time my drag link adjuster sleeve slipped a couple threads. As a result, my steering wheel would point to 3 o'clock while I was driving straight. This happens most times I wheel, and it's easy to readjust. Just annoying. No alignment issues, but I still need to upgrade my steering to take the abuse I give it.
oops...

I also built a minimalist, high clearance bumper with the help of a friend. As posted earlier, it needs a bit of work. I am happy with the overall results, I just need the outer "wings" to be strong enough to protect the sheetmetal, lights, etc. It ties into the C4x4 tow hook brackets with 1/4" plate, and the center is quite strong.
Finally, I have also installed an OEM tire carrier out of a late 80's XJ. I loved it when I finally got it on. Looks good, gives way more cargo space, etc.
The problem is, the carrier I got from the junkyard was worn, and on a wheeling trip, a friend accidentally let go of it while opening, and it swung 180 degrees around to the front and caved in my rear quarter. Then the whole thing just fell off the jeep as I carefully tried to swing it back closed.
I can handle trail damage, but this was on the way home! It has been fixed and wont happen again, but I'm still debating how to reinforce it, as it does wobble a bit.

Any new additions recently?? I had a question about your sound deadener. I'm going to be ordering the rattle trap as well but I wanted to know what size kit you purchased. I'm looking at the 100 sq. ft. kit and wanted to know if you ordered more or less. Thanks!
