99 XJ Building on a Budget
So I've been wanting to start a build thread on here but never got it going and due to the lack of time to really work on some projects because of life right now. Going to go ahead and start one and see where it goes from here.
So to start: I have a 99 XJ with a 3" OME Lift,32x11.50s,aftermarket speakers. What I want to do asap: Roof Rack,throttle body spacer,upgraded injectors,swap my subwoofer set up for 2 12s, and anything else I find to improve motor capability/lifetime. |

Kind of built our jeeps at the same time as well.
Is there any suggestions any of you all have to mechanically improve my rig? |
Re gear axles, and a sye if you don't already have one.

Don't waste your money on a tb spacer. I would cut the front bumper end caps to be flush to the bumper itself like the center section. As far as anything that will cost money, what are your plans for it?

I'm honestly not 100% sure yet,I'm just trying to research and learn what I can and decide what's worth while and what isn't. I'm not extremely mechanically inclined and my tool set is limited. |
Yeah don't waste money on a TB spacer, I have one and can tell you it does nothing at all. Good thing I got it for free, but it honestly wasn't even worth the time to install. How do you like those headlights? Have any night shots? Links to buy?

Best thing would be to wheel it a couple times to get a better idea of the terrain you'll be driving on and how your Jeep handles. I wouldn't say a regear is necessary on 32s but you might want to go up a tire size and have a better crawl ratio, or leave it as is and have fun.

Id say regear first then worry about everything else..
Yes it costs money yes it'll take forever to get it done...BUT I love going from 3.07s to 4.10s (I have a 5 speed)....it helped so much on daily driving my rig... I have 4.5" in the front and 3.5" in the rear and 32s. It helped with off the line speed and gas mileage...even with flatland it sucked I was barely getting 200miles to a tank and now I'm getting over 300 to a tank... My next rig I get I'd be regearing first before doing lift and tires... |
