99 xj Blackout
Hey guys so after 3 years i guess its finally time to make a build thread on this xj... Ive been into modding cars since high school but went through my DSM phase and was in that for a while! Then started heading in the opposite direction with muscle cars, full size, and then my XJ.
Bought this right after I sold my 76 K5 Blazer which was built like a champion but then a cataclysm of problems happened so I cut my losses and sold it.
So i was looking for quite a while for a 97+ 2dr 5spd xj in good shape... that seemed like quite a challenge though! So after holding on to my money for a few months I looked on craiglist and found this 4dr 99 5spd xj.. Called the number up and it just so happened to be about a mile away from my house! checked it out that day and picked it up the next with 100k miles on it....
Next was my first mod, picking up an ARB bumper for 500 from JakeWI, but that was when i was on WI4X4 forum
Came across a dana 44 with 4.88 gears brand new with welded spiders but decided to sell that because it was too much for me as a daily driver...
Time for the lift to finally go in... RC 4.5 adjustable uppers and lowers with full leaf
Of course like everyone else we snapped off all the bolts while removing the rear shocks so fabbed up something the next weekend that is bombproof and basically like a BPE
Ended up selling the ARB to a friend and picked up some JCR sliders and a JCR stage 3 bumper... never got a chance to put the bumper on, cause i thought i wanted to go another route! So i got rid of it...
Graduated college this past may and its been a money pit it feels like ever since... Long Arms, Sliders, 4.10 Gears, swapped out the D35 with an 8.25 29 spline, Currie tie rod, IRO double sheer track bar, Detours Tire carrier, SYE, Tom Woody Driveshaft, Replock Gold Clutch, Some trimming, BFG KM2 32*11.5
I ran into some problems with installing the long arm crossmember and the sliders because the sliders have such a large footprint at its base and its right where the long arm crossmember goes... also installing the crossmember raised my tcase significantly so that was a problem all in its self to get aligned!! The tcase still has to be adjusted cause im not getting 4wd from the lever
ill have to get you guys some updated pictures once the weather isnt so terrible in Chicago

Nice cherokee, good way of dealing with the shock mounts. Definitely want to see more pics.

just be sure you tie that bumper father down the frame somehow (JCRS tie ins).. I had the same one on my old jeep and when I got stuck, my buddy yanked on it and the heavy B$*%7 yanked right out of the frame on one side, crunching the fender on the oposite side
