Default 99 XJ From Australia 4.5" on 31's

Hi guys just thought I'd share my build with you guys.
I've got a 99 XJ Sport, had it since stock. At first I wheeled it for a while with some 29" MT/Rs and stock suspension, but with the weight of camping gear making the rear wheels stuff into the guards I decided it was time for a 2.5" Old Man Emu lift.

Camping trip in '10 at sagged stock suspension and 29's

We didn't really get to wheel it for a while after the arrival of my dad's JK, but my first port of call when I got to re-booting the mods was to add 2" coil spacers and 2" extended shackles, giving it 4.5" total lift...

After the 4.5" lift and swaybar discos

Obviously... I couldnt leave it with the pityful 29" tires on that sort of lift so the next thing was to add some 31s. A mate who runs a Jeep parts store gave me a great deal on some Federal Couragia MT's so on they went!

To store the 31 safely as well as my recovery gear and air compressor, I built out of plywood a rear cargo system to hold everything.

Time for a shakedown run! We took it to the hardest track we could find and discovered anything that would need addressing. I knew it would need the bumpstops adjusted but because I ran out of time to do that before this run the rear right ended up partially removing itself from the body... something I would later fix with a bit of DIY ingenuity.

Testing out the new mods!

After reading around on a few forums and seeing some JKs at our Jeep club, i decided I wanted some flat flares. Rather than forking out $500 on bushcrackers, I decided i'd have a go at making them myself and I have to say, for under $100, they turned out really well!

Future mods will be a 20" LED light bar to replace the halogen spots on the bullbar as well as some wheel spacers to fill the new fenders nicely.

Hope you guys enjoy the story and will continue the build with me!
Cheers from Australia!
