Black Gold 99 Sporty
I've been wanting to do this for a while now but didn't have the time until now.
I will be adding more pics as I get them. Too bad I did not have a stock photo of her when I bought her las April.
Well here we go...
In a somewhat stock form.
Only "Mod" was a Yakima roof rack at the time.
The smaller pics are from my first Xj that I picked up back in 02. Oddly enough it was also a 99. Off-Road adventure put it up in there reader rides. I moved to England in 04 and had to sell it but I got back to the states last year and luckily I found a twin I could build up on.

Hacked the fenders, actually came out nice, and added some 31" Firestone Destination M/T's. Good tire but chunked a lot. And removed bumper caps...

After that rock crushing day, it was time for some rocker protection. Used a 2x4x3/16's along with some 2x2. Picked up some uni-body stiffeners and welded the whole thing up with the assistance of a friend. I also added some 4x4x1/4 plates under the body as well as under the carpet to tie it all in together and prevent any vertical movement.

Some more pics of the rockers nicely painted.
You can see the nice damage on the driver side door there. Too bad I didn't have the rockers prior to that. May be doing some plating in the future.

CB all wired up and mounted, classic Cobra 29. Just before the camping trip I made a bastard pack out of set of Ranger springs and added some 3" TJ coils and a 2" spacer to bring up to about 4.5". Didn't last too long as in good ole Ford fashion those leafs cracked.
Swapped out leafs to 4.5 leaf packs from RC, and replaced coils with some 4.5" Clayton coils. I'll soon be getting rid of the RC leafs and getting some better 7 leaf packs as the RC do not hold too well to any kind of weight.

Front bumper.
Used 3/16 plates to support the "frame" and used 1/4 plates from there to a 1/4x2x4 for the shorty. A nice plate of 1/4 by 5' was used on top. Good friend Juan did a hell of a job here.
Picked up some new shoes as well, now riding on some 32 BFG KM2's.
I see 35's in my very near future.

Well the the wife had surgery a couple of weeks ago so I have been out for a bit. Now it's time for some cut and fold so I can get started on the rear bumper.
