So the rig has been idling kind of rough recently whenever I'm at a light, I kept having to put it in park to make sure it wouldn't sputter out and die. So cleaned the TB and IAC. I used the tech write up on the main write up section.
Before

After

forgot to take a picture of the IAC after cleaning cause my hands were covered in gunk. While putting the TB back on I was torquing the bolts to 15ft/lbs and apparently my torque wrench is broken because this happened.

Luckily I was able to put pliers on it and unscrew it. Went to the hardware store and got 4new bolts and washers and got them all in and tight.
As of now it seems to have fixed the rough idle and sputtering/urge to die at a stop light. So I'm pretty happy with it. Also got these in the mail!

Ok so I'm hoping to remove the side molding on my XJ and then next week bedline the lower portions if the doors and quarters. Took some pictures today that I noticed some things when I was giving the XJ a bath

From the above picture see some rust all around the hitch and on the hitch itself. That is from the driver side rear.

^would this explain why my emergency brake doesn't work? Taken on drivers side underneath the passenger door

So in the below picture it seems that I do have an SYE kit, currently I'm sitting on a 3.5" RE w/ Tera flex 2" bb so roughly 5" of lift if I upgrade springs/shocks/leafs and get back to 5.5" I shouldn't need to do anything to my SYE or driveshaft will I? I'm still a newb to the drivetrain work.

^ here is the part I was not excited to find. This is on the passenger side rear. I'm thinking I'm going to have to cut out all the bad and put in new metal. When I do that I'm planning on spraying the inside if the frame with a rust protector. Then some Have said to spray the whole inside with ATF?? Then planing on undercoating the entire underside of the jeep. This unfortunately will have to wait until after winter here in Ohio. So frequent car washes.

I haven't been able to dump much money into the Jeep because of Christmas as well as Obama and the Dems wanting to ban assault rifles so I have spent a lot of money on a couple AK47s and a bunch(9) of AR15 stripped lowers and 30 round mags for them and mags for my Glocks. Going to sell some of the lowers if the ban goes through for a lot more than I paid for them.

Not much new has been going on with the XJ. Had to put a new belt on because it got caught in the manual fan cause the old one cracked.
I did get my forum stickers in and on

So the goal is when I get my tax return back hopefully mid February I'm going to order a front winch bumper and winch and hopefully build my roof rack as well in the next month or so. Also picked up a second full time job so I will have a lot more money to throw in the build in the coming months.

Nice rig so far. I have a 98 as well, bone stock at the moment. Did my interior LED upgrade and have diamond plate door sills from Rusty's on the way. I hope they come with new screws--nothing chaps my **** more than a rusty philips head! I currently have plans for a custom 4.5" long arm kit. I am anxious to see your work on the bedlining of the rockers...I plan on gutting my interior and doing the whole floor. I also have some rust repair to do at the door/cab corners, I hope I can just sand it away :-)

I've been looking into the LED mod but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I hear ya on the screw lol. I'm gonna go through and replace all the ones on my sills when it gets a touch warmer. Painting of the rockers will happen as soon as its gonna stay above 40 for a couple days in a row with no rain.
Rust is a b**** I have a little on the front passenger roof right at the corner so I need to fix that then bedline the roof while I'm at it.

Got a quick reply today from Rusty's that the diamond-plate sills I ordered do come with new screws. Hope they are stainless! I haven't seen where anyone has ordered these and put them on, so I shall do a post about them when they arrive.

If you're interested in the LED mod, here is my writeup.

What size tires you plan on running?

EDIT: I also have a tiny rust spot in that exact same place. Mine is near the windshield. I think at some point I may have to get all new weather stripping and new rubber for the windshield.

Stainless is the way to go!! I will definitely look at your thread of the interior LED's.
I'm kinda torn on the way I want to go on tires, I will probably go to 33s however I would love to have 35s, I will be regearing regardless when I need to replace my 31s to 4:56 gears. I'm not going to be a rock crawler or anything, more of expeditionary, forestry, camping, hopefully a few trips to the west coast and Moab, but it won't be a hardcore offroad rig. So I think 33s will be the best route
Yea that's where my rust spot is too and I will eventually replace my weather stripping but won't happen till summer.

No I didn't, but thank you for pointing that out, but shockingly enough I only have slight vibes at 50mph then goes away then comes back at 75. So it is now on the list as well.

Is your axle shimmed? If not you may be able to get away with just doing that if you onyl have slight vibes.
