Sounds like it will be bad ***. My dream would be an XJ built with a diesel. I wouldn't even care what diesel. Lol
Question, why keep the aw4? Seems to me you would have to have some kind of trickery rigged to get the TCU to run right unless you wired it up to he selectable. Why not go with a 5spd? Or the stock Mercedes trans? (I don't know if that would fit) Especially since you scrapping the stock tcase. |
This build looks awesome

Kinda why I went Mercedes mechanical engine best diesel ever made (can be an arguement) little wiring...lol. May have enough trouble trying to run off stock gauges...lol Gonna use this kit (bolt in easy): http://www.mercedesdiesel4x4.com/product_p/a-mb206.htm Also got good deal on RA Design Rock shifter...which IMO will be much better trail wise then a manual. Wish I was as skilled as some of you guys who amaze me with your work... Matt |

Like I said going to be a slow build...lol has been already sitting for 4 years gathering parts. Alot of the problem is I am not even close to skilled enough or have the time to freshen up the tranny, put in the r&p ox lockers drive shafts etc on axles, and put LoMax into Dana 300...plus I wouldn't trust it would rather pay someone who stands behind their work. Basically skill level and cost. AW4 in it will freshen it up and the mercedes Diesel will not destroy it...If I was doing a 4BT yeah I'd do a heavy duty tranny...
