You're going to love the finished product! I do recommend going lower in gears. Especially if it's going to be street driven. I'd go 4.56 or lower. 4.88's would be better. Definately upgrade R+P if you ever upgrade axle shafts. Keep the gears from being the weak point. With 35's you should be OK and keep breakage low.
Good choice. Enjoy!

yeah i agree with the lower gears but 4.10 is what the 9inch and detroit are coming with. i think i might just do it right the first time and do 4.88's.

yeah don't run the 410's with 35's go to at least the 456 but the 488 is the best setup for this package. other then that sounds like a good project post some pics as you build

Sounds like a fun weekend to me!!! what gives you the idea that the steering box is going out? I had problems with mine once it got to hot. If it goes out temporarily while crawling, and you can mash the gas a little and it corrects itself, it's because the fluid is getting to hot and loosing viscocity. what I did to fix mine is add a small tranny cooler into the low pressure side of the steering line and basically create a Psteering cooler. It works. If it's just leaking, then nevermind.

it has alot of play in the steering just driving down the road. but i also think my ball joints are going out too and also my tre's.

this is why every xj that gets wheeled needs some rocker protection but it sounds like you had a fun time
