32" tires with one ton axles would almost be worse than stock axles with 32"s offroad, you'll be dragging your diffs everywhere, plus I've heard Dodge front 60s aren't very great and if you're going to put in all that time and money might as well get something you won't regret

Thanks for the input man I was just kinda kicking around the 1 ton idea. Nothing set in stone yet. Best part is when I find some axles I want from the jy they will be less that 300 for both of them

Nothing really done to the jeep year but got to take it on its trial run this weekend camping with my son, we had a blast!
Not bad for junkyard parts, eh? This is with the front sway bar still connected
My sons first camping trip on the first off road trip for the jeep

Made my weekly visit to my favorite place this morning and let's just say I wasn't totally disappointed. As soon as I stepped out into the junk yard it started pouring rain so I was just like F it I'm here already. Started my trek and walked up on an old yota mud truck with factory tow hook, keep trekking and find the hooks mate on another old yota mudder. So feeling lucky started strolling every aisle and walked up on this home brew huge tube bumper just sitting there in the middle of the aisle like it was waiting for me. Got a few other small odds and ends and a set of 6 inch speakers out of a 2010 Mercedes and only spent $32.03!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT?
I've gotta say ladies and gents karma is for real

You will have to change the transfer case to an np231j or np242j from the same year model jeep is best so the gear cuts are the same. I'll have to dig it up but I believe I have a thread on here that will help you out. I'll get back to you as soon as I find it

Well my 248 finally blew apart on Me luckily I was pulling in my driveway. Been a few weeks looking for a 231 or 242 with no luck. So I finally got a chance to hit the jy again and Lucked out on finding a super clean, and looked to be recently rebuilt 249. Gears all smooth no metal in fluid . Not exactly what I was looking for but I'll take it especially at 79 bux with $1 A DAY WARRANTY. also picked up some nice 8mm spark plug wires and some blazer fog lights all for less than a hundo. I'll add pics later just wanted to share another story of jy luck

Got the tcase in no problem just have to adjust the linkage. Tomorrow will be chop bumper, install fog lights and Headlight panel. Maybe tube bumper if I feel like it. Mostly I just wanna drive it again it's been sitting a few weeks now
Wanted a 231 or 242 but ended up with this rebuilt 249 out of what looked like a grandma owned zj limited. Gears are super smooth Nov issues. And looks to be rebuilt all gaskets still look new
The lines are where in gonna chop it off. I have a narrowed bumper I'm gonna put on for now
Not the best but awesome for free99

Since the jeep is down...again, I decided to start on a few other things that needed to be addressed. Went ahead and chopped the impact guard ends off so it is now the width of the frame
Before (stock) .. obviously
It looks a Lil off just a rough draft right now and it's all held up there by bolt. Still have a little metal to roll and might even throw in a gnarly tube bumper
Comments appreciated pointers too.
Thanks guys
