94 ZJ build. **Give me your input**
Ok. I have a 94 ZJ that I have finally got the ok from momma to build it. I have a 3.5 rough country spring swap lift on the way (UPS says it will be here mon) http://roughcountry.com/jeep_zj_3.html by the way if you call RC instead of ordering online they will give you a better deal, I told them I heard of them through a jeep forum and they hooked it up. My first question is can I add coil spacers (any size .75-2") to this lift or will it not work? I just picked up some black steel rims with 32" dick Cepek tires that are almost new, and I have a custom rack similar to confer being built right now with 4 light tabs and hilift jack mount, I need lights and jack any suggestions ? Looking for some decent 100w lights for it but dont have alot of money. I want some sway disco's too and am thinking of some homebrew ideas for them, any ideas ?

My last ZJ had 4.5" springs on the front and stock front 4.0L springs with a 1" block on the rear and worked well.

Thanx for the input marc. I'm just concerned that my control arms might not be long enough, since they are designed for that height and all? what size lift do I need to consider lengthening by brake lines &/or anything else ?
|
With 3 you can lower them any more and I'd look at some longer ones unless you plan on running sway bars all the time. BTW keep the rear one on or it will ride like a## and get some discos for the front.

What is the most cost effective/best way to go for Discos. Homebrew ideas ? if not where from and what brand, remember I'm on a budget but dont want junk either.

How do you plan on addressing the front track bar??
At 3.5" you also need to change brake lines they are going to be to short for you to get much flex. Are you removing the plastic cladding from the body or trimming it? those big fat 32"s won't fit otherwise. Also bump stops... they are going to be too short to keep those tires out of the body... |
I plan on ripping out all the plastic, and trimming the fenders as needed. I am also planning to move the brake lines not lengthen, do u think that will work ? Am I gonna have a problem with the front track bar. The lift comes with a new track bar mount. If you have time go to the RC link and see if what it comes with will be all I need. RC says it is everything needed.

What they have you do is drill a new hole for the front bar and move over I think 3/4 of an inch but I do not remember what it was. It will tell you what to do. That is what they had me do for my 4" lift. In the rear with my 4" I can fix 33 but with a 1/4" to spare just letting you know. For the Discos there are alot of stuff guys did in the fab section and build threads so take a look over there for ideas on what to do on that!

Thanx man thats alot of help. I talked to them about it and thats exactly what they told me to do, 3/4 " towards the driver side. How much trimming did you do to get 33's to fit ? What did you do for brake lines ? Do you have any pics of it with the 33's on it ? |

just to give you an idea I used the bumper mounts for the high lift jack welded on my rack works just fine and they have been pre-drilled for pad locks to keep those away from it who are looking for a 5 finger discount. I made the light bar from some square tubeing.

i picked up 4 kc daylighters shipped to my door for $200 from truckaddons.com
