'94 XJ cheap build

well there is what i started with nothing special. 94 ex forestry service with the 4.0, auto and NP231.

http://img.techpowerup.org/110511/3k...caf41412b9.jpg http://img.techpowerup.org/110511/3m...ebea231c3b.jpg http://img.techpowerup.org/110511/3k...753ff81675.jpg

first step was to remove the rust. sanded down all of the trouble spots and hit them with rustoleum black and the wally world bedliner up to the midway body line.

some of the lift parts i got ahold of

http://img.techpowerup.org/110513/20...-22-07_821.jpg

hit the junkyard for some leafs to build a bastard pack

http://img.techpowerup.org/110514/22..._4684059_n.jpg

my buddy was very excited at the find. 6 leafs+3 overloads and the truck they were pulled from still had a 3" block.

got a chance to start working on it and here is as far as i got.

http://img.techpowerup.org/110514/20...-15-31_379.jpg

the centerpin is installed but no bolt on it i broke the threads and snapped a hardened bolt twice...

http://img.techpowerup.org/110514/20...-20-04_847.jpg

drivers side is installed but the coil compressor is still installed.

http://img.techpowerup.org/110514/20...-20-25_183.jpg

little bit of a lift and its just a roller the right side has no ubolts...

quite a height difference even were it sits right now. going to shackle the rear and put a 1" coil spacer on the front as well hopefully that will be enough to clear a set of 32x11.50s thats what my goal is for this truck

What kind of treads you planning on getting?

haven't decided yet i have free set of 31x10.50R15 Goodyear AT/S i will run those until winter and i will probably get some cooper dicoverer S/T's thats what i run on my pickup and i like them.

cdawall 05-15-2011 11:14 PM

thanks and here is were it sits right now

http://img.techpowerup.org/110516/20...-56-15_304.jpg

ran out of ubolts long enough need some 6" long ones.

http://img.techpowerup.org/110516/20...-55-59_538.jpg

no its not sitting on the blocks threw them under just in case something slips so the axle has something to rest on.

http://img.techpowerup.org/110516/20...-55-45_927.jpg

this side is done its sitting about an 1" higher than were it was on the jackstand i am hoping it levels out to about here with both sets of leafs in. got longer shackles just in case. haven't decided on if i am going to put my one inch spacers into the front as well.

Looking good

Did you use Herculiner? It wouldn't be a bad idea to bore holes at the bottom of the doors and rocker panels and flood with a little 3M rust inhibitor. Then you can just fill them in with Silicon and remove if you ever need to again. I say this because if you have covered up rust, the liner will stop the surface from spreading but it will continue to creep inside until all you have left is all rust being held together by the polyurethane.

Relocate fender flares

You also may want to relocate/trim the fender flares now or you'll tear them up a bit on 32's. I had 235 AT/TA's on mine before I did a 3" lift and was tearing the flares apart on the bottom from the rubbing.

its some cheapy stuff...and the rust was only on the outside i sanded it all off will drill into them anyway and spray them though would prefer no more rust...

it really doesn't look bad even with these which are 235/75's i think will try my set of 31x10.50s on it later and if they rub i will stick with this size or maybe a 245/75 or 255/75 they are cheaper anyway

i don't think you should do the roof, but maybe think about continuing it around the rear hatch? IMO it'd look great

cdawall 07-17-2011 07:09 AM

I know I need to do that hatch its on the to do list...
