93 xj build
 

Hello this is the build of my 93 police package xj.

I am starting off buy getting my xj ready to go doorless or make half doors for it. I am going to mount mirrors to the fenders, I got some free mirrors from an 86 suburban.

This is where I plan on mounting them.

sanded down the brackets.

And I painted them black

The paint is kind bubbling in a couple spots so I will have to resand and go over them again.

I worked on my mirrors some more today

I sanded the brackets and put a couple more coats of paint on them

My XJ is a 1993 police package That I bought in June 2010.
It has a 3inch budget booster lift up front and add a leaf in the back with 31inch bfg mudterrains and a cb. I plan on putting a 4.5inch lift 33's on it and painting it tan

Which lift are you planning on putting on?

When I can afford to I want to get a RC 4.5 x series kit

Same kit I have. I like it, plus its upgradeable to the long arm for future upgrade if wanted. However the instructions off of RC's website is for the 6.5 lift. I'd suggest getting the SYE kit at the same time too. The t-case drop kit supposedly ruins motor mounts.

RC doesn't offer a sye for my tcase, I have the np242.

Ohhhhh. Id change that.

I like my 242 the full-time4 is nice for when it snows

I finished my mirrors today now I just need to work on mounting them.

I started pulling out my interior to take care of some rust the front passinger side isn't looking to good so far. Heres how far i got today

You should build a custom console since you already have your old one out. The stock ones blow, and it wouldn't be that hard

My police package doesnt have a center console but I am thinking about getting a zj console to put in since it has cup holders

I like the ZJ console, may have to steal that idea. All the levers line up?

The ebrake and t-case lever line up but I have a colum shift so I dont know how your gear shift lever will lineup

I didnt get alot done today, I pulled some more plastic pieces out pulled out some wiring from when it was a plice rig sorry I didnt take any pics of that.
I also test fit the ZJ center console with the front seats its kinda tight but it fits

I went to the junkyard today to try and find a seatbelt for my drivers seat but no luck all they had were a couple of twodoors.
I took a wire brush to some of the rust

and it turns out I need to trim the center console alittler bit because the its getting pushed over my the passinger seat and the ebrake handle is rubbing.

Well i've just about the inside of my jeep ready to be painted with por15 then I can hurculine it.

I plan on getting some hurculiner for it in the next couple of days

In my opinion, the GC console needs to go. You've got a rare column shift with just the coverings for the tcase shifter and the ebrake lever. I'd make something to put cups in where a floor shifter would be (or close) and use everything else that came with it. Also, why not put the rubber floor back on over the por15?
I love the jeep though. I had a column shift in my first yj and loved it. I'm super jealous. :cheers:

I plan on keeping the stuff that came with it but i still plan on trying to fit the zj center consol in but the tunnle is quite differant and my jeep has water leaks so I dont want to have water get the rubber flooring so i prefer the hurculiner. I didn't like the column shift at first but im liking it on the trail.

I got some hurculiner for my jeep today, and I did a little prep work so I can hurculine it tomorro such as use a wire brush in the corners and vacume up the mess, plus I took a damp towle and wiped all the dust off. I plan on applying the hurculiner tomorro if we have some sun.

I got my hurculiner rolled on today :gunsmilie:

I got a free grill guard with a winch mount but its for a s10 fo I have to figure out how im going to mount it.

How much Hurculiner did you end up using? I'm looking to do the same to mine, but not sure how much to buy

I bought the kit and it comes qith a gallon and I have alot left over but I only did one coat

Check out a Caravan for a center console. They might work too.

What other trick stuff does the police package have besides column shifter?

The police package came with rubber flooring and a push bumper on front, thats all I know is police package. I have the factory skidplates for the t-case and gastank and factory rear tire carier. Thanks for the advice on the caravan center cosole I might look into that if I cant get my zj console to work

I'd just put in the 98 center console out of the xj... less work and it almost looks the same! Lookin good so far tho!! :rockon:

Well I got my new offroad lights today, There just some cheap ones I bought off ebay. I got 2 yellow and to green.

I would put in a newer xj console but im using stuff I find at the local junkyard. And thanks man its a slow build but im trying to get stuff done.

Its been a while since I've posted anything but I have done a couple things.
I mounted my surco roof rack, it mounts to the factory rack but my jeep didn't come with one so I had to drill into the roof and cut away at the lip on th inside of my jeep alitlle bit. I got a factory and surco rack mounted
