Since I joined this site, the amount of ideas running thru my head on what to do to my jeep have caused lack of sleep. Thanks. Figured I might as well start up a build thread in the event I go thru will all my plans.
As it sits now, I have a 92 4 door sport 4.0L with 245K miles on it. The exterior and interior are kind of rough. Not trashed but showing their age. The paint looks like hell in some spots and there are a few spots of rust that need tending to on the passenger side doors and rear quarter. So far I found a dash bezel since it didn't have one. Replaced the front seats for ones in better shape even tho they are now black instead of grey. Put new wiper blade on. Cleaned a bit inside. Replaced the valve cover gasket and oil pressure sensing unit. The engine was leaking oil bad from the valve cover, and my oil pressure gauge is maxed out so I'm hoping the sending unit fixes that's issue. Further plans include new carpet or bedliner inside. OD Green paintjob with bedliner on the bumpers and fender flares, extending onto the lower 6 inches or so on the doors to prevent further rust. OD green paint for the rims. Lights for the bumper. We get bag fog here in the poconos and this is my first vehicle without a set of PIAA's or the like on it. Think I might do the headliner in woodland camo BDU material along with the visors. Might spray all interior trim pieces OD green. Make some BDU seat covers. I'm quite handy with a sewing machine since my mom has always sewn. And maybe way down the road a lift and tires. Guess I should post current pictures. dont let the camera flash fool you, its not that red nor shiny its good angle Attachment 356074 fuel filler area needs attention Attachment 356075 missing rear wiper and the motor is shot Attachment 356076 dent and rust in the rear passenger quarter panel Attachment 356077Attachment 356077Attachment 356077 passenger side doors need rust repair, and you can see whats left of the muffler Attachment 356080 windshield crack, directly infront of the steering wheel, like a gun sight for hitting squirrels Attachment 356081 |
Finally got the old muffler to surrender to the BFH. Got the new dynomax exhaust on. Then ripped out the old headliner material and removed the trim in preparation of replacing the headliner.

Finally got the headliner in and my baby stroller cup holder. Tomorrow I'll hopefully install the new shocks all around and pickup leaf springs. Also need to make the BDU covers for the sun visors

New shocks all around. Took two days of work and a lot of cussing. But they are on and much nicer than the old ones which neither compress nor rebound at all. Waiting on my leafsprings from the JY. $100 for the set off a 99 XJ. That's gonna be a whole other ordeal for me. I'm learning everything I've done so far thanks to this site and YouTube with the most basic of hand tools and no garage or lift. What a process.

Well finally an update. I've replaced the wiper blades.
And then the real work began. Newish seats installed that dont have the dent to them. Painted the bumpers, wheel flares, door handles, front grill and mirrors flat black. The wheels have been cleaned and painted as well and new lug nuts and center caps installed. Went with high heat BBQ grill paint. Tried a resin repair kit on the windshield crack. Sort of worked but not enough. Replaced front rotors and pads. Did my headliner in camo nylon fabric. But it's starting to sag already. Crap glue I guess. Replaced front door speakers and tailgate speakers with new ones. Finally got the radio to work but still don't have an antenna. Installed some front bumper fog lights, Autozone Pilot's. installed rampage headlights. Only thing left to do really is insure and register it and hope the windshield passes inspection. And eventually replace the rear leaf springs. I have all the bits but not the time or man power. And finally I will repaint the body. |

Finally got all the wiring done and the rampage headlights in. Everything still needs to be aimed right.

Paracord for the steering wheel. Green wrap under with black cobra weave over for the spokes and then a black spiral weave for the outside of the wheel. Almost finished today but ran low on cord and high on blisters.
