After I took it off I used a plastic scraper and wire brush to clean up diff and the cover. Used ultra black RTV and applied to diff. cover and installed. Just put on a continous bead around the cover and sort of smeared it with my finger. No leaks yet!

What do you guys think of the tow hook I installed on the last page(will it be ok in that spot?)
I was finally able to get the plugs out of the Tcase, and got that fluid changed.
Well since I got the jeep, I have had oil pressure problems and had a thread going in Tech section. It was dropping down to 0psi on warm idle, I changed oil added 1 qt of Lucas and it was maintaining about 8psi warm idle until recently. It is back down to 0psi, and at 60mph at 2k rpm it has 15psi.
I was going to replace bearings and oil pump by dropping pan, but I found a deal on a used 4.0 on great lakes 4x4. So that's where I am at now. Got it for 280 has within last 1000 miles new- cap roter plugs, oil filter o ring, valve cover gasket, rear main seal and new oil pan gasket with no leaks. Its out of a 95. Has 40psi warm Idle so hopefully it goes smoothly.
I have never done a project like this, but I should have some decent help, a friend of my parents is suppose to let me use his garage/cherry picker.
Not sure when its gonna happen, (I hope soon) but after that is done, I want to start working on taking care of rust, and I am debating on rattle canning it OD Green and bedlining the bottom. Then maybe a 2" budget lift and probably find a set of 30's maybe 31s and trimming. Debating on keeping fenders on or going without.
Krash has offered to help me with the roof rack, I have 2 free lights I got that I may put up there (they are 7" round yellow fogs, a little big I think but the price was right), just need to add some mounts to it.

Any Ideas to fix this rust through on front parts or will it not be an issue.
This first one is the driver side lower control arm where it mounts to axle. I was thinking of grinding it down and filling it in with a welder after taking control arm out. Then priming and painting. May replace the control arms while I'm doing it because one is bent.

that tow hook wont hold up it will rip right out first time you tug on it, as for the rust on them two spots i would clean it up pull the LCA and weld some steel over it, dont just fill with weld, it wont hold up.

it would be alot easier to replace the control arm mount and shock mount than it would be to try to repair them. as far as the rear axle goes it is definitely a d35. the 8.25 has a flat lip that hangs lower than the cover and if you look at the pic you posted look at how the d5 cover has a "dimple" that takes up half of the right side opposed to the 8.25's dimple is much smaller. if you seek out a pic of the covers mounted to the axle it is much easier to see the differences.

A little update. I have been really busy and haven't checked back on here.
The newer motor is in, and runs great. I have put 1000 miles on it so far, manly around town and to work few days a week. I did pull a 8x10 loaded trailer about 2 hours each way, and ran fine the whole way. Although my tires start making the jeep shake over 55, which isn't a big deal for now. Maybe in the spring start looking for new ones. Nothing has really been changed as of yet. I have been driving with the rusted shock mount and LCA mount. really need to get it taken care of soon.
