Installed a backup camera while I had the lift gate apart and the interior trim out of the way. Ran the power down the right side of the gate and signal down the left. The camera currently is powered off the reverse lights and the single cable routed up the left side wiring harness into the dash.
Pulled the instrument cluster out and took it apart. I replaced all the burned out T5 twist lock bulbs on the status display on the left side, cleaned everything really well and refinished the clear plastic cover with an acrylic vapor deposition tool meant for headlights. The end result is no more scratches and a crystal clear lense over the guages.
It looks brand new
I also spent some time putting the headliner back in, cleaning the dome lights, and adding a custom led array hook bulbs.
In addition to that I was able to get the lift gate interior trim panel back on with my custom clips
I ordered a Metra 70-1002 Radio Wiring Harness for Jeep/Eagle 1988-96 Power/4 Speaker off the jungle site and was thrilled to find out that it was paint-by-numbers in hooking it up to the ISO radio connectors that came with the new radio.
Got a reasonable amount done tonight. I carefully removed all of the vents, removed all of the old felt, and cleaned everything, got most of the dust out of the blower ducting.
Vent cleaned and new felt triangles on the top and bottom
Added new felt to the inside of the vent housings
Installed a 3D printed trim piece around the radio hole to eliminate the gap as standard radios are smaller
Put the dash back together (mostly) reinstalled the bezel
I also dropped the front carpet off at my buddies detail shop, I don't have a big enough carpet cleaner.
Lastly, I finally tracked down the rattle in the passenger front door, on the exterior door pull, the pivot return spring was broken, allowing it to flap around.
I spent 20 minutes tonight extracting a rotted off screw that holds the passenger side parking lamp in. When I started there was enough meat on the screw to grab it with some dikes. That resulted in the screw breaking off closer to the mount.
Broke out the MIG and a sacrificial nut, held the nut up to the screw remnants with the ground strap and squirted some liquid metal in, it managed to grab hold and I was able to extract it without further drama
Put a few coats of primer on the roof as well
I also restored the parking lights. I carefully split them open and removed the lenses, after that I cleaned everything really well, next I refinished the lenses with my vapor refinishing kit, painted the inside with aluminum paint and glued them back together with high bond silicone
Pro-tip: wrap your tubes of glue / gasket maker / etc that are metal with electrical tape and be amazed when you get to use the whole tube without it splitting open at some point in the distant future.
Lastly the new inner wheel tubs arrived, I'll install those soonish
Rotated the speedo sensor around so the speedo works again. Also straightened the steering wheel, replaced the battery (I might be replacing a starter solenoid soon) and did another oil change (second one in less than 50 miles)
