90 XJ 'Fallen Angel'
4 Attachment(s)
And so after a long wait, i finally begin my build thread
Before we begin, i must mention the jeeps name- I call it the Fallen Angel because of its white pain, the beauty of the jeep, its powerhouse, and it was my first vehicle- have had it for almost 4 years now, and has served me in many situations. Im never letting this thing go lol And onto the build- I got this 90 back on my 16th birthday, from a guy who lived up near hollins in Va. I loved the look of it, i loved what was already done, and most important, i loved it because it was a jeep. Through 3 girlfriends, many long nights, many close calls and many angry drivings after some life events, she did magnificently She served her purpose well at first, however shortly after, only have her for nearly 3 months, it decided that the speeding minivan looked tasty, and i decided (without knowing it) the warn front bumper needed a test...i accidentally pulled out turning left , clipped the rear quarter of the van (who was speeding, but still had right of way, so i got a ticket..) the van was pretty beat up, rear quarter gone, rear axle bent, lift gate half torn off...but no one was hurt luckily. then the problems arose. Not a few months after she started having heating issues, and me being a very very VERY green mechanic new almost nothing about what was going on. it had a cracked head or blown gasket, and on my way back from a wrestling tournament in christiansburg, she gave up her ghost and threw a rod. yet again, me being the green mech man, i had no idea what happened....thought about selling her, but luckily, my next birthday was coming up, and as a gift, my mother, grandmother and father all pitched in and pulled her up a i6 out of a donor mj with about 150k on it. thus, the angel had fallen back to earth, to continue its purpose- to become the jeep of my dreams. not too long after i met a guy named john who was dating a friend of mine, and after i heard he had a jeep too, and after meeting him, we became great friends (look his build up on here, Jeepsurfer1 - great jeep, great guy.) so the current build is as follows- 4.5" RC budget lift (po put on...missing a few parts) 32x10.5 bfg AT's (lowest has like 50% tread, so not too bad) some custom metal work done by po, he was a welder (both good and bad) and much more to come, hopefully ill be getting a new hood, and other random bits this saturday up at a jy with my buddy. and for the crew of the vehicle- there is me, Preston (the dashing man in the tux, if i may say so myself), tags read PARSN1P, if you see it around or go to towers kroger in roanoke, hit me up man! My girlfriend (the beautiful lass in the dress) of 2 1/2 years, katie, shes put up with me amazingly, and i love her to death John (guy grinding on my door hinge)- my fellow jeeper, we often ride with each other to various junkyards, or part stores- done tons of work on both mine and his, and hes helped me learn ALOT about jeeps, and alot about how a good friend is a great person to have around my dog- bogie sometimes finds his way into the jeep and seems to love it just as much as i do So from here on out ill be keeping you guys mostly up to date with how the jeep goes, what im doing (sometimes mundane, can be pretty interesting sometimes though) and any other useful info i come upon. Heres to jeeps  |
I should also metion that the warn bumper went from my jeep to johns, i simply wasnt using it with a winch and he wanted a winch so, tadahh he got it, i got his stock one and 2 lights and some other stuff, all in all a good deal though, and i do like it on his a little more then mine aswell
the headlights pic was just a comparison of our two, but still a sexy pic if you ask me |
Yea! This is gonna be good :guns:

Well, on the way back from floyd (working on my fathers wj), we hit a snag. Temp starting pinging the 250 range and eventually met the redline, went a little into, and once shut off hit 280, there was a leak in the line that goes from the thermostat to the heater core, and that is believed to be the cause.
For those who dont know how that makes sense, my jeep is a renix, the name comes from RENault and bendIX, and its cooling system relied on a closed pressurized loop, using the pressure of the liquid attempting to boil to keep it in a liquid state, allowing it greater cooling efficiency. Today i will be doing some new coolant hose, possibly a new t-section, new thermostat if the old one tests bad (for those who dont know, boil it in water, see if it opens or not), new hoseclams all around, some more fluid (cant hurt), and if it comes down to it (i pray it doesnt), my and mr jeepsurfer will be doing another (3rd) head gasket to our jeeps collectively. 2nd for mine, that is. ohh, and my girlfriends car, a 1994 taurus gl with the 3.8 v6, its driver side rear e brake is locked up, awesome eh? its a hundred dollar fixing kinda day  |
So, today i finally got around to fixing the overheat, turns out the leak from the clamp gave me a nice air bubble in the system, burped it, and she runs like a champ again
hopefully ill get some pics up the next few days of my next project- the 6 fuse block to run my horn, lights, and aux fan off of! |
EPIC CONTINUANCE
spent 30$ in tubes and a locking mechanism and made tube doors to pass inspection:gunsmilie:pics later tonight when they are done also going to have a roof rack soon hopefully :sailor: |

Tube doors!
about 25$ worth of galvanized tubing, 40 bucks for a bender, and some good ol fun welding with my buddy, we made these tube doors- hopefully they can help with my inspection issue :brickwall: |
