Default 90' xj on 35's

I just purchased a 1990 XJ from a guy about a month ago for $250, and it all started from there.

So far I have removed the front fenders, cut out the rocker panels, massively cut the rear fenders, installed adjustable lower control arms, new shocks all around, lift coils, add-a-leafs, my high lift and mounts, gutted the interior and I am sure there is more.

I am going to run 35" mud tires which will be interesting to see how well the stock axles hold up.

I don't have any pictures tonight, but I will upload a few tomorrow night when I pick up my other 3 tires. My rig is coming out exactly how I wanted and I don't think I have spent any where near are $1000 yet so I am doing well trying to build it on an extreme budget.

They probably wont hold up very well hahaha. Your going to want to regear, or it is going to be slow as a turd. Good luck!

I didn't get any damn pictures tonight because I had a lot of stuff to do around home, but today I was able to pick up two other tires to complete my set of 35's for the jeep.

I know I will be doing some re-gearing soon enough. I probably won't be able to afford that till spring time or early summer next year. I met a guy around town who is running 35's on 4.10's and he seems to like it so I will most likely go with 4.56's just for more power. But I would like to just find some better axles which is also a good possibility.

I swear I will take a few pictures right when I get home tomorrow after work.

thanks
-Ken

picture of the cut rear fenders

Pics of the coil spacer(temporarily) and my new shocks and adjustable control arms.

This is kinda what it will look like with the 35's but keep in mind it'll all be about 5" taller with them actually bolt on with some new rims.

I am having a hard time finding some used rims around town, but it will happen sooner or later.

let me know what yall think!

Thanks

Yea I like the way it looks, but soon enough I am taking all the doors off, and instead of making tube doors, I am using tubing to make, I guess you could call them solid mounted doors, but it's getting cold here in Minnesota, so it's hard for me to leave it sit outside in the cold with no doors, but it'll be in the garage soon. I hopefully be running black rims but we'll see. I don't want to half *** this so I will most likely just run stock for the mean time due to lack of money. I am also looking for some rear shackles or thinking of making some to gain about 2" more of lift in the back. I am gonna do something soon with the bumpers to, but I haven't quite found the bumper that I want to make.

Are those firestone tires? If they are I think you will really like them. My friend has them and he hasnt noticed any visible wear for the last year and he wheels/drives ALOT. Theyre a very hard compound

the axles will hold up fine imo i am doing it right now but you will be slow really slow. If you go out and do alot of 4x4 you will probly use the 4 low alot

Yeah I think the axles will hold up alright for a little while. The jeep will not be drivin on road at all so there won't be a lot of miles put on the jeep, and I mainly just do some lite to mild rock crawling so it should work fine. Yeah it'll be slow till I get some new gearing but gearing is not in the book for me right now because I just cannot afford that right now, so I am fine with driving in 4-LO if I have to.
Thanks
Ken

It wont be slow on the trails...okay I cant explain to you right now why this is because I am tired and dont feel like thinking haha but as you increase the tires size for lower gears, trail riding will get very jumpy. Now, with an Auto its perfectly managable! But with my stick shift and 3.07 gears, just going from stock to worn BFG 31s (actually 29s) I noticed a huuugeee difference in minimum speed rolling in first gear in 4lo.

You will be fine though
