89 xj dd project
Well it's been almost a year since I bought her and its time to start a build thread. Well it's an 89 4door Laredo, picked her up on April 1st, 2012 with 184xxx miles on the clock for 800. Passed emissions the next day with a two year old tank of gas. Of course with any car it's age the power options didn't work very well. The po did a horrible paint job with overspray all the windows. After cleaning the over spray and getting new plates since the front was missing she was finally on the road again I once I hit the main road I quickly learned it needed tires and shocks.

so once I figure out how to post pictures on here (on the computer, used to the iphone app) then you'll get to see her. Once thing for sure, I've gotten addicted to jeeps, Cherokees to be exact.

Started to work out the electrical bugs, the radio didnt worked so I pulled it out to find and adapter harness and radio harness not even hooked up, but the turn on to the amp was hooked up? Started to dig around and found rca's, turn on wire, and constant 12 volt straight from battery under the back seat tucked under the carpet, and the 12volt was live |

the fun of greasing power window mechanisms also rewired the speakers that didn't work which were aftermarket but sounded like crap. |

http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1ae89b32.jpg http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/...pscaf5f90b.jpg I want a roof rack so bad. The rack shown is on my buddys 88 parked on the other side of me |
currently most of the mods have been to the interior. Got the overhead console out a minivan installed. After putting 6x9's in the hatch I had the factory grills left over and since they're powered by an amp I installed the Pioneer 5 1/4 in the back doors and used factory grills which look good and and some depth to the sound system. Front doors and tweeters and rear doors are powered by the deck which I got a new kenwood for my 18th birthday with 3 pre outs so I ran another set of rcas and modded the factory radio connector and adapter so i can just pull the adapter out and switch decks very simple.

so far things replaced would be, ICM, alternator, starter, battery cables, brake booster and master, rear brake cylinder, ignition cylinder. Alternator died on a hot day with ac on max, radio blasting at night towing a trailer so it had quite a load on it. found out it was replaced once before with an 65 Amp alternator. So I upgraded to a 110 out a chevy and no more problems. Also made a homemade head light harness with relays and the old sealed beams are bright as day.

sounding good man, keep up the good work

One of the most useful mods so far was installing a 12 volt power outlet in the rear cubby. I still need to figure out where the water leak is coming from on the drivers side. The passenger side was an easy fix As it was the hose to the rear washer getting caught against the hatch seal. Carpet has already been removed from cargo area. I just don't want rust. Rear quarter panel drain plugs have been removed.

Haven't done much to her. Bought a 88 comanche to fix up so everything been stopped on the xj besides drive it
