the 88 Heep

so i am gonna start this build thread and up date it as i go along. i have and 88 jeep that i got from my best friends 87 year old grandpa, my other one that i started with had the 4.0 that had 300,000 and it died and being the idiot that i am i pulled the 4.0 and tranny and replaced it with a 2.8 (i know dumb) and it was a wiring nightmare so it is now my parts jeep:gunsmilie:but i got this one for 1000 bucks it runs, drives, and most importantly every thing works! i have a 4.5 rough country kit i bought i think i will only wind up moding it when i start crawlin. and eventually i am gonna put toyota axels under it locked front and rear.

With the 4.5 lift from RC did you get new brake lines or use the ext brackets the kit comes with? I noticed with mine i cant flex too much or it will snap the front brake lines. Looks really good man

i have not put the t case drop in yet, no vibes:rockon: but have really only driven it about 19 miles. it need alined bad i cannot stand the steering wheel cocked to the right (pet peeve) and no shocks yet the bolts broke off and i need to drill and tap new ones.:brickwall: and it is deffenitly gonna need a little fender trimming. and the wifes grandpa just towed in a YJ hope to get front fender flairs:thumbup:. and new break lines they are a little short even with the extender brackets. my back one didnt even fit.

In the rear or in the front? Do you wheel it or is this going to be more of a daily driver?
If you wheel it, lock the front..**** even if you don't wheel it but use your 4x4 often then still lock the front..a brand new spartan costs 230 shipped to your door. And the front will help you pull through stuff vs pushing through it! Much better option!

If you want to lock the rear look into an aussie!

jhampton 12-06-2011 03:25 PM

I'm gonna wheel it... and drive it... so think I wanna lock front and rear

t case drop kit

ok i got the t case drop kit installed and it was pretty easy thanks to pb blaster and the destruction's tell you to double nut the studs and twist them out. ya right so i got a pair of vice grips and clamped on and turned back and forth every turn or so i gave it another shot of pb.
