Default Update

ok, it has been a while since my last post cause i have been busy, but i finaly got my jeep back and it runs better then ever! all except for the mystery tranny fluid around the cross member that i can seam to find a leak for. but i finaly got the bumper in and got it on in less then an hour! i re-adjusted the long arms to a +1 turn on the drivers side and -2 turns on the passanger (making it shorter) to make a axle to axle measurement of 88 inches on both sides. no more rubbing sway bar. but here is some pics of the bumper and how it was installed. cant wait to get my winch on tomorrow!

here it is all wraped up and safe

Frame extentions for the new bumper, they use the steering box bolts and re-enforce it with 1/4" steel!

Where and how exactly did you grind the slip yoke? I have the saem lift and am having the same problem. Whenever I let off the gas at speeds over like 35 it sounds like its just grinding constantly on something.

i pulled the u-joint off and grinded the little dip on each side of the yoke where the joint would touch. but this is not a permanent fix, it has to be perfectly balanced so a SYE is your best bet. i now have a SYE and i love it

Default SYE installed

So i have been busy for a while once again (moving to Washington state soon) so i havent had time to play with my jeep. well today is SYE install overview. i ran in to a few problems and got through them with ease, with the help of this site i got through it with few headaches. today was a busy day, i hooked up the roof lights, installed new aftermarket 12" electric fan in place of crap stock one, with a 198* turn on temp, and started SYE install.

First i cut off the bracked attatched to the old stock fan and cut it down flat so it would fit my new 12" 1800cfm fan!

the fan took a little tweaking and a little cutting but i got it on there. after install there was no more clearence issue then with the stock fan, i also installed a 198* temp auto switch on it as to activate with the temp rises over 198 and turn off @ 195*. i also wired it into the A/C so it turns on anytime i run the A/C as well

after roof lights were wired this was the pattern i got from turning them on for the first time and aiming them.

Just headlights and fogs
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3469.jpg

now the roof lights, windshield was really dirty in this one so i got some glare, and the hood reflects too.

sry forgot everyting

onto the SYE install:

NP231 before i started all this work, damn i am looking forward to ditching the slip yoke!
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3515.jpg

Front drive shaft disconnected! i will tell you this from experience, never use a 12 point wrench on a bolt smaller then 10mm to remove it from an object...especially if that object is 16 years old!
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3514.jpg

rear driveshaft and tailhousing removed. see all the fluid residue in a nice patter that looks like someone was spinning a wet rope around is circles, well this happens with you try to run a longarm kit with a slip yoke in the back...not a wise decision on my part.
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3517.jpg

all ball bearings and seals in tacked...looks like this is gonna be an easy disassemble and install
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3519.jpg

well maybe not...this broke the second i took the snap ring pliers to it. not a good sign of a well lubed t-case....hopefully i am wrong about that!

after removing the remaining part of the tail housing, this is what you will see, the oil pump. now i believe later models have a balancer in there..not sure though
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3522.jpg

be sure to pop this pickup tube out before detaching the pump or you will be buying a new pickup tube and possibly a pump. the pump is not serviceable and can not be taken apart and put back together...SO DON'T DO IT!!!
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3524.jpg

after tube removal then the pump should just slide off like so...set aside for now...don't play with the middle piece in the pump as you can damage the pump and cause excessive play and destroy your t-case.
88-94 upgrade body swap (pics inside!)-img_3523.jpg

now you finished the easy part and this is what you have...make sure you keep track of all your bolts as your new kit didn't come with any accept the snap rings.
