4wd too 2wd
i know everyone on here hates people doing 4wd-2wd conversions and so do i. i have a 2wd 1975 postal jeep im putting cherokee axles under. i got a stock 2wd cherokee axle for free on craigs list and a cherokee 4x4 front axle. the 2wd axle came with no break caliper and caliper bracket. so im switching the hubs from the 4x4 axle to the 2wd axle. my question is "can i pull the axle shafts out and run the vehicle safely?" ive heard of people doing this to save on gas milage but not sure with the cherokee. thanks all!!!

no its takes pressure from torquing down the axle nut to help support the bearing. act the 2wd are completely diff. i dont know if you can use the spindle or not. but if you can you also need to use the outer piece of the axle shafts and put the nut back on there then you should be able to no prob.
