I plan on modifying and adding some of my own metal to this truss I want to run a top plate and some more metal past the passanger side upper control arm mount and I will also run a piece from the driver side upper mount to the axle tube as well for extra support

The Remanufactured head is going to cost me about $65 and a trip to the junkyard and $140 to get machined at my local machine shop if it has any cracked valves that will be a little extra.

What I have done so far,
New high flow water pump, new radiator, new 180 degree thermostat, pulled the lifters and going with new ones, new high volume oil pump and pick up screen.

Be careful with the water pump. There are two different pumps, depending on which way it rotates. I managed to buy the wrong one for mine, of course.

Just make sure the tines are the same.

I double and triple checked that, I got the right pump. But i do appreciate the advice about checking that :-) the last thing I want to do is put it back together and have the wrong water pump

Finally made it to the junkyard and got a good head off of a 96 identical to the one I had that was cracked.

Now it is at the machine shop getting decked, valves turned, valve sets cut and new valve seals so it will basically be a brand new head at least to me it will be :-)
