Aside from what has already been posted, I'm thinking exocage, mad max styled welded screen windows and big pusher bar bumpers, I mean you will be driving during a hurricane right? Not waiting around till its sunny out cruising town pumping up peoples flat tires, Oh ya, and alot of exterior lighting would be good to, and dual batteries, I'm just thinking worst case scenario, hope your build goes well !, and heres a pic for inspiration to see what you may need...

Wow! Thank you everyone for all of your contributions! I'm completely surprised by the amount of replies this thread has received. I honestly was not expecting anything like it... Please know, I've been taking into consideration everyone's input, as well as researching as much as possible.
Today I went through DrewJHarper's complete build thread, and learned a lot. I feel as though a similar setup would be appropriate for what I wish to achieve. 3" Rough Country, long arms, 32's/33's (I'll stay with my 30's for a while though). I believe this will be my first purchase for the XJ...
I've read up on so much over the last couple days, I cannot wait to start building... Looks like my hours will be decent enough that come the end of September I should have my lift.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience here! I have been hoping someone in your position would post... Your experience/knowledge has definitely been influential!
It'll be slow to start... but once I start ordering parts, I'm sure I won't stop! lol
Thanks again everyone!

Hey i like your thread so far man! Ive been skimming through it. One thing i thought would be cool is a on board air compressor. Im not to sure if any one has brought up the idea yet? But sounds like it could be useful

Over Head Console Switches
Here is an idea I had the other day when I was sitting at a stop light...
The pictures are pretty self explanatory, but please excuse my terrible photoshop skills. lol
I'm thinking I want to put switches in the garage door opener compartment of my over head console (OHC). Examples in the pictures below...
The yellow strobe switches will be toggles, and the pink fog switches will be typical black rockers with integrated LED's.
I figure I can run my cables underneath the plastic trim pieces... I currently foresee no problems with this design, but please let me know if you do...
Obviously, the lines/colors are for illustrative purposes only, and will not be visible in the actual design. I of course would have to play around with spacial issues, but I feel pretty comfortable that this will work.
Let me know what you think!
I also just received an email from WalMart saying that my seat covers are in, so tomorrow I'll be picking those up and installing them.

An air compressor has been suggested a couple time, but thank you for thinking of it! It is strongly being considered... Just trying to find the best bang for my buck to try and justify it. As well as the space requirement...

Where did you get your CB antenna mount? That's exactly how I want to mount mine... Do you ever run into issues with having your antenna there and being so high? I also really love those lights! They look great in there.

Awesome! Thanks for the info and pics. I'll be checking out your build thread tomorrow.
Antenna hits everything but thats what the spring is for. Antenna $20 from radioshack, springs $20 from radioshack. CB from and old hoarder friend and the mount from Bells CB. It's a general door jam mount made by firestik. I'll go get some night time pics of the lights right now.

Love the idea behind your build, I just started my own build, BOV bug out vehicle, living in coastal NC we too are prone to natural disasters. So I share similiar ideas that you have, Im always concerned about being able to get my family to safety and helping anyone on my way out.
I'll be checking this thread out often, do me a favor and check out my build, we have some similar ideas, as do alot of members on this forum the jeep cherokee makes for a good all around vehicle.
plus love the name...DRV
