So I got this for $800, runs and drives...not alot of rust, some bruises, all in all a decent start for her age.

First thing I decided to do was to address the leaks, I started with the Valve Cover Gasket.

Fixed the Valve Cover Gasket

So this week was terri-bad for my monies but it is also a standard, boring, eventless, weekend of checking fluids/leaks.
Next week should have a few more dollars to donate to the Jeep gods for pity...parts and progress.

Stay tuned for the next episode of fml I bought a Jeep and now I am broke

You should clean those turbine rims and get the center caps for them.

Is that what those are? lol, I am actually just using them as place holders for the moment along with the bald 31" x 10.50 Geolanders.
My plan is to put some ProComp 15x8's (Black Ofcourse) with 33" x 12.50 BFG KO2's on it and give her a modest 3.5" lift.
However, the PO's were not too keen on maintenance and as such I am squashing leaks ect first...

Small update;

As you can see I have oil spewing into the AirBox...and that filter is last weeks pizza. She still runs though!
I also have a leak somewhere in, on, or around the OilFilter...dun dun dun....
I ordered some parts to do the valve cover mod (cruiser54)
Stay tuned in eventually I will get to the fun stuff :/
Also pointing out this is my first Jeep...what have I done?

That's not bad for $800! The interior looks pretty mint. I personally think the LED headlights ruin the period-correctness - especially when put on Renix-era trucks - but I also think any set of LED headlights on any year Cherokee look silly - like a set of literal bug eyes. You do you though if they work! I'm sure the actual output is much better than a set of OEM lights. I really like the H4 Hellas on my 99.

Keep in mind if you put 33s on it now without regearing, you're going to be dealing with 3.07 gears and 33s... I doubt that will be fun. How does the trans shift? That's the Peugeot BA-10, right? I've heard meh stories about it, but I've never actually driven one. The AX15 is pretty great!

Good luck with the oil leaks. Seems like you're on the right track if you're already looking through Cruiser's tips.

@Battle

I agree with the LED lights looking a bit silly/incorrect, that came with Renixia (I decided to name her). Yes its the Peugeot BA-10 and as far as I have read DD it is ok but when you want to get serious it is known to fail. Which is totally why I am going to replace it with a real transmission! Along with the Dana35 and possibly the 30 if I can find a cheap enough 44. I also plan to re-gear to 4.10s with lockers front and rear.

I appreciate the tips though, I am vigorously researching builds here ect for tips, inspiration, and hell maybe even meet some Jeepers.
This weekend I am going to pull the valve cover (again), clean it up more, paint it, mod it, and possibly do the catch can mod as well.

Ok so took valve cover back off, looked fairly clean still, performed the cruiser54 mod, picked up a can of Dupli-Color Metalcast paint, paint VC.
I am not impressed nor happy with the paint but thats what I get for choosing something fancy, I should of got the Chevy red-orange flat color or black and called it done.
Next time I pull VC ill repaint it for now this monstrosity is staying in, next up is to pull the AirBox, clean it, replace all the hoses, and get another air filter.
Not sure if I want a CAI...what do you all think/recommend?

"Ah, George not the turbines"

Those turbines would look good cleaned up on some 33's. Those turbines are just a little less common than other stock rims and give that classsic vibe. But hey you like what you like. You can always send those turbines to me.

Looking forward to checking out your build. I keep wanting to start one for my 89. But I'm bad about doing stuff and forgetting to film or take pictures.

Quick example of those turbines cleaned up. Some guys paint the insides black. You can do a google imagine search "Cherokee turbines rims" for more examples.

@Chick-N-Picker

I am not a fan of the turbines...pun intended! When I get my pro-comps (next couple of weeks) , you can have them just pay shipping.

Ok. What would shipping cost on 4 rims? If I don't buy a set locally then I might just do it.
