True, but RC is more prone to sag than other lifts. You'll probably loose even more height as time goes on. But hey... what's done is done. RE 3.5" lift would be perfect for your setup. Their lifts are designed for the added weight, which is why most people net 4 to 4.5" out of it.

Either way, relocation brackets are definitely worth it! You think about maybe throwing ACOS's up front? A little pricey, but another sound investment. If OME coils netted 3 to 3.5" of lift instead of the 1.75", I would have gone ACOS's to get up to 4.5".

Yikes! You think it will continue to sag?
I have checked out the ACOS. They look like a good choice for dialing in the front. I will check into the RE 3.5"
Thanks for the advice.

Thanks! I made that not too long ago 'cause I was seeing that question a lot and kept having to search for that post for the answer. Decided to make the infograph 'cause it was good information, and a good way to honor him as well. Sure was a helpful guy.

Coils, maybe not, but I wouldn't be surprised if the leafs sag some more. Really hard to say. I don't want to talk you into spend more money than needed, just "spit ballin" with ya.

Let me put it this way... if I was in your shoes, and wasn't unhappy with the RC leafs, I'd probably go relocation brackets and some longer shackles, and probably just drop the coin on some ACOS's. That's just me though.

Loaded up for a quick "shakedown" camping trip with one of my sons.

Default Brake issues

One of the brake calipers is sticking. I'm guessing the knuckles are grooved.
I'm going to have them welded, instead of replacing them. I'll probably replace the rotors, calipers, and pads, and add some extended SS brakes hoses at the same time.
Still not sure what to do about the sagging lift. I'd love to replace all the RC stuff with RE but that will have to wait.

Default Brakes

I had the knuckles welded, and ground. Replaced the calipers, pads, and added SS extended brake lines front, and rear. The brakes seem more responsive, and the sticking caliper issue is gone.

Say, did you have to pre-heat the knuckles before doing the weld repair? Just curious, but I'm starting to see some divots in my knuckles and I'm probably going to end up having to do this too.

I painted the lower portion of the rocker panel to blend better with the Napier flares. I used some rattle can truck bed paint, and was pleasantly surprised how nice it turned out. It's purely cosmetic, but I think it just gives the XJ a much cleaner appearance.

Default Head lights

I've needed to replace the headlights for quite some time, but kept putting it off until I could buy Truck-Lites (or something similar). I rarely ever drive the XJ at night so it's kind of an out of sight, out of mind thing. However, after a recent night drive, I decided anything would be better than the ones currently on the truck, so I bought the higher end Sylvania lights from O'reilly Auto Parts. Much to my delight they turned out to make a huge difference.

Old high beam

New low beam

New high beam

I'll probably still install a Putco harness at some point, but for now these are much better. The difference was so significant I actually removed my Hella driving lights. They were not adding a significant amount of additional light to justify keeping them on, and I really like the cleaner look without them. I'm kind of simplification mode right now.

Default Winch

I've been researching winches for quite some time, and had a tough time deciding on which model to purchase. After much deliberation I decided to buy the Warn VR8-S. I like the weight savings of the synthetic rope, and it has a limited lifetime mechanical and 7-year electrical warranty. The installation was a breeze. It came completely assembled, so all I had to do was bolt it in, and connect the leads.

This thing seems to work great. I pulled out some line and re-spooled it, and it seemed fast to me. I had hoped to pre-stretch the rope today, but left my tree strap at the house when I went out to test it

I ordered a Factor 55 Splicer to replace the hook that came with the winch, but I'll have to wait until next weekend to install it.
