I started on detailing the interior. All that is left is to shampoo the seats and carpet tonight. Now on the the next "new" problem I have found. The center console lid is broken off! I plan to get that all worked out this weekend. I have been want to do some fiberglassing for awhile now. This seem like as good of time as any.

This Jeep is turning out to be a real pain in the ***! Shocks in tomorrow!

If the lid is anything like my xj lid I was able to repair the old one by taking the bottom plastic piece on the lid off and supporting the screw posts. I used hot glue and JB weld to repair the posts and then drilled out the holes and used wood screws. After the repair you cant see any of the repaired stuff because it is all hidden and it has been fine since I repaired it 4-5 months ago. Or you could just pick a lid up at the JY.

Mine is broken a little more than than, but it is fixable. The lid is fine and the hinge is fine. I think I just might make a whole knew box out of MDF, and do some FG.

Anyone on here a Stereo Junky? My wife told me "No sub box in the back." So I am thinking about putting 8's in the rear doors!

So it is now 100% detailed! The interior looks like a different vehicle! The out line of my shampoo'er was disgusting the soap was black!

I pick up my shocks today!

08/07/10

This was the day I was just going to put new shocks on. I picked the shocks up the day before from O'Reilly's. I was only planning to do shocks!!!

So I went to my neighbors and asked to borrow his jackstands. WELL, we couldn't find them. So I went to O'Reilly's to buy some three ton jackstands ($34).

Incase anyone cares; here is my parts runner car! My pretty little GLI!

So I get the jack stands up under the Jeep and take my first look at the front end.

To give a little back story. When I got the tires put on the guy told me the CV boots were leaking, "they have small tear on each of them!"

So since its right there for me to look I can see this small tear!

SMALL TEAR MY A$$!

So I head back to O'Reilly's (not the one close to my house; they didn't have any in stock) to get half shafts ($49.99 a piece)!

So now I begin to take apart the front axle and get to the axle bolt! I don't have a half inch 36mm head! So head up to Autozone to rent a set.

So I get back to take the front apart and decide I need a few of these!

And since I had the tires off I decide to get ride of those terrible factory lug nuts and buy some good ones! So I headed to Lyles Discount Tire (20 lugs $1.10 a piece)!

So yesterday I put new shocks all the way around, and two new half shafts! Took me quite awhile but it is done!

I also bought a new belt but lost motivation to put it on.

So I went out last night to test out the four wheel drive; to make sure I did everything right, and to make sure there were no noises!

Went to the park in my neighbor (this is probably illegal)! Drove up on the grass. Hit the gas and went nowhere the rears just spun. Put it in 4X4 high slammed the gas and took off!

Can some please explain the 4X4 settings to me? When should I use each of these?

1. Partime
2. 4X4 High
3. 4X4 Low

Thanks,
RON

So I bought some audio equipment. (I will post pics tonight)

All of this stuff is craiglist or from my stash!

Rockford P4.400 amplifer - $75 the thing is brand new; came with the box, packing material, and birth sheets!

MB Quarts Componets 6.5 plus tweet - $55 these are brand new; never installed!

So I will run the components up front the 6.5 in the doors and the tweets in the dash pointing up at the windsheild. These will be powered by the front channel. The rear channel will be pushing a Kicker Comp 8ohm 12(oldy) bridged on the rear.

I need to get some deadner to quiet up the doors up a bit.

And as usual... Stinger wire all the way around!

I plan to work on it this week.

I also have a new problem the rear door won't open from the outside. I have found the problem. Nothing is broken. The little arm the pushes out when you push the "outside" button won't push the plate out far enough. I need like 2mm more... So am going to by a hose clamp to put around the plate to try to add a little more girth to it.

on the "cv" axles. Since you have a Dana 30 front end, most of the years prior have exposed ujoints. Even though there is a tear in it, it really shouldnt affect much. just take a look at your old ujoints and see if there is a grease zerk and grease the joints.

Keep the old shafts as spares for when you do upgrade and lift
